It seems that the router doesn't support to block the specified application. Unless you know what IP address or TCP/UDP port the application uses, then you can block them through access control function.

Hi  Andone

Good day.

Followup regarding on this thread. I already migrated our network through my current setup and configurations last two weeks ago. However, we encountering no internet connections randomly per user. So meaning, all users have internet connections then suddenly one (1) user has no internet connecdtions then after an hour or couples of hour another user has no internet access. Sometimes the status of ethernet status has limited connection or sometimes has internet but unable to browse the user (please see image below). So, i'm wondering what happened on my setup even i followed correctly the setup and configurations.

Note: jobs done

1. flushdns

2. clear browsing history

3. tried change ip

4. unplug and plug the rj45 or move rj45 to another port (on switch)

5. tried restart both switch and router

I hope you can help me.

thank you,

ken

Hi ken22

In addition to web filter, did you set any access control item?

When your PC shows no internet access, please check if your PC has IP address and whether can ping its gateway, DNS server and 8.8.8.8.

Hi Andone

Thank you for your immediate response.

I have no configurations or any setup to access control, is this needed and what is purpose?

Our PC's has static ip and it can ping the 8.8.8.8, gateway (172.16.10.1) and DNS server 172.16.10.10 (which is our server for domain-active directory)

Please see screenshot of my current setup for webfiltering. still encountering intermittent internet connection for random PC.

thank you,

ken

Hi Andone,

Additional, Currently, i did not used the two (2) segments which is 172.16.20.x and 172.16.30.x i think there is no problem with that.

I used only 172.16.10.x and all PC are connected to each other and encountering intermittent no internet connections.

thanks

ken

Hi

Your PC can ping 8.8.8.8, it should be able to access internet as well. So you can ping 8.8.8.8 even if the PC shows no internet? If so, please try to ping google.com. If you can ping google.com normally, then you should be able to access google as well.

@ken22

Sorry that I am littel confused. You said that you use static IP address and you can ping 8.8.8.8 and gateway in your previous post. But this time you said you cannot ping 8.8.8.8 and google...

Anyway, we should do the ping test when your PC shows no internet. Make sure your PC has the correct IP address and gateway.

Ping Gateway Ping DNS server Ping google.com Result
× × × the problem is between the PC and gateway
× × the problem is caused by DNS server
× check WAN status for gateway
Your network should be OK

Hi Andone

Here's the result. PC shows limited connectivity / no internet access

Note: other users has internet access but some other has no internet access.

Ping Gateway 172.16.10.1 - Ping is ok

Ping DNS server 8.8.8.8 - Ping is not ok

Ping www.google.com - Ping is not ok

ken

thanks

Hi Andone,

Still encountering intermittent no internet connection per client.

All PCs are good, then suddenly one PC has no internet connection with limited internet connectivity, tried ping gateway 172.16.10.1 is ok, ping dns 8.8.8.8 not ping, ping google.com not ping. then after a couple of minute another one PC has no internet connections with same status and troubleshooting results.

Is there any options or config for my scenario?

thanks

ken
