@Fae Ok, thanks this already helps a bit.

Is it correct, that the "T1500G-8T(TL-SG2008) V2" is PoE-Powered and still can be updated to be compatible with Omada?

I got a label from a vendor that looks like this

Is there a way to check the hardware version based on the serial number?

Judging from the website, there is also a "T1500G-8T V1", is this the one without the "(TL-SG2008)" addition?

In addition, there is TL-SG2008 V3 only, which can be taken as a replacement for T1500G-8T V2, and it's compatible with Omada SDN from birth, so if it is TL-SG2008 V3, the product description should claim that the switch supports Omada SDN and you don't need to check the hardware version to confirm it.

To be honest, I already contacted 3 or 4 retailers in Germany, but either there is no answer, or they cannot confirm the hardware version - so it is still difficult to find on. But the I will give it a shot and try one of those "T1500G-8T(TL-SG2008)".

@BenHH

The unit you have imaged here is a V1 1500 , from my understanding this version will not be compatible with SDN.

Yes, it's correct. Port 8 is a PD port which can obtain power from PoE source.

The hardware version is at the end of the Model, from the label you provided, the hardware version for T1500G-8T is Ver 1.0.

T1500G-8T V1 is not compatible with Omada. Hope the informationis helpful and good luck!

@Fae Sorry to bother you again:

I found the following statement on the website:

https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/2948/

This says the mobel number from the T1500G-8T v.2  changed to TL-SG2008 v.3.

Does this mean, the T1500G-8T v.2 and the TL-SG2008 v.3 are the same device?

Meaning the TL-SG2008 v.3 also is PoE powered?

Thanks,

Ben

Dear @BenHH,

TL-SG2008 v3 is a new model, which can be a replacement for T1500G-8T v2.

And yes, TL-SG2008 V3 can obtain power from PoE Source.

@Fae I finally found a dealer, that could verify the hardware version and got a 2008v3.

Cheers
