EAP620 HD v2?

Hi all,
Noticed that TP-Link has published a v2 for the EAP620 HD. Any idea about the changes?

Just ordered the EAP620 HD and got the V1.0.
I'm obviously not keen on getting an older version that will not get any new firmware (yes - looking at the EAP225 v1/v2 which haven't been updated since 2018...).
Send back the V1.0 and wait for the V2.0 to start shipping?

As I know, v2 changes components to ensure supply. There is no big difference in the performance between V1 and V2.
I'm obviously not keen on getting an older version that will not get any new firmware (yes - looking at the EAP225 v1/v2 which haven't been updated since 2018...).
For the firmware, if there is a bug existed on an older version, the R&D team will provide new firmware to fix it.
(The first firmware release of EAP225 v1/v2 starts from 2016, the bugs found had been fixed in 2018).

While it is indeed true that the EAP225 v1/v2 got firmware updates, it has not received any firmware update to be compatible with the new Omada v4 controller software. I'm worried the EAP620 v1 might face the same issue in the future, where there would for example be Omada v5 :(

The Omada Controller V4 and above is a completely new platform, changed a lot and incompatible with the old EAP models, that's true.
I don't know if there will be any new platform in the future, but at present, I can tell that Omada V5 would still support EAP620 V1.

The above worries me, as it sounds like as the versions progress older devices will be dropped. I was planning to start moving from Ubiquiti to TP-Link but I may have to think a bit longer about it. I don't want to have supported devices dropped from my management software as it happened with my older EAP245

This has been covered a number of times now, you really need to consider the age of the 225 v1 and v2 device.
The v3 came out in 2017 if memory serves me right, so its not a 'new' device by any standards. The v2 was 2015 and v1 2013
Both the v1 and v2 got updates on firmware for 5 years, the v3 still gets updates. Honestly its somewhat unreasonable to expect firmware and support for devices that are now 8 years old, for the record ubiquiti support for 5 years also.
If you have bought a 620 v1 it came out in 2020 so it should be good for firmware until 2025 (at a guess)
Ultimately technology moves on and older hardware cant be supported forever!
