  @Fae Thank you for the updates. Are there any updates on when 5.1 will be available on the OC 200/300?

  @Fae I would be happy if the possibility to connect to OpenVPN with username and password authentification could be implemented until release.

It was announced to be available in 5.2. version by TP-Link Suppport.

Nevertheless - so far the BETA is working for me.

  @Fae I've experienced strange issue, telling me that log space is full, therefore it raises a question: What is the max size of logs for omada controller? Where can I check what "full" means? Controller has more than enough space for quite some time, meaning that device is not out of space, here is root info:

/dev/nvme0n1p5                     229G    156G   64G   71% /

Over 64GB is free and by that this restricion must be connected to omada. I sadly deleted all logs before making a screenshot.

Another question of full log would be, what happens when the log is full, no further entries are created?

I am also aware that one can set notifications and if it is too much for one, some can be disabled (like DFS changing channels, I had hunderds of errors before disabling). If one can enable/disable notifications and there is enough free space on omada controllers running on pc's, could you please add a field where one sets custom max. size of logs like in MB/GB?

I also badly need curl for omada, even if you do not implement further dynamic dns providers, it would resolve my issues by just having curl and initiating dns update. I still have to use another device for dynamic dns. If you do not plan to add further, then add at least empty line where user can add curl command.

And as last, my question about kernel was fully ignored, could you please ask your R&D if tp-link will release any firmware with kernel 5 or at least kernel 4 instead of really, really outdated kernel 3? And as you are on it and if you get positive reply, ask additionally about wireguard as with kernel 5 there will be almost no space used on your devices.

EDIT: if it is about free space, remove openvpn or some outdated protocols to enable wireguard.

EDIT2: In the meantime it appeared again few minutes after current post, this time I managed to make a screenshot, the message says "The number of logs is up to the limit.":

I can disable "Full Log" notification, which I believe would fix the issue of raising my attention, but I see nowhere what exactly causes this event, is it free space (which cant be as there is enough) or is it amount of logs/events?

OC200 v5.1.7 has been released last Friday, you may check this post for an update.

OC300 v5.1 was found to have some issues before release, so it's delayed and will be released once the issues are resolved.

Thank you for your valued feedback!

I'm also waiting to see the implement of OpenVPN with username and password on controller v5.2.

However, I didn't see this added in the release note of controller v5.2 yet. So we may need to wait for the next version.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.

The FAQ below explains why you get the alert and how to handle it.

What to do if you get an alert of “The number of logs is up to the limit”

About the kernel, do you find any security issues with any omada devices, or what's your main concern?

To submit a security-related inquiry regarding TP-Link products, welcome to Contact TP-Link Technical Support.

BTW, this thread is mainly to collect feedback on the Controller v5.2.4 Beta. For other off-topic issues, it's highly recommended to Start a New Thread with more detailed information, so we can discuss further and try to help.

  @Fae Thanks for the link, there is/was a reply to my question which could be quoted:

If the number of managed Omada devices (let's say x) does not exceed 100, the maximum number of logs is 150 * 31 * x. If the number exceeds 100, the maximum number of logs is 150 * 31 * 100 + 30 * 31 * (x-100).

The question remains, why software based controller has such limit? It obviously is not connected to any performance, what is the reason for such limit. And is this question according to you offtopic, but it clearly is one software based restriction and this restriction is again part of omada cloud software making it 100% on topic unless you were not honest in saying you want to get feedback about this beta version. I am sorry, I also have no clue why I was so stupid to install beta and write about it to be accused of offtopic. I will not make this mistake again, it seems that it is not at all valued like you say.

On that point you ask me about security concerns with kernel 3. Well, yes, there are several security issues with it, experiencing it too, but hey, it is offtopic, I might or might not contact support and waste additional time. Beside all of the offtopic claim, you seem not to be dev and there are quite a lot reasons why one would like to upgrade kernel 3. I also doubt you will ever provide wireguard with kernel 3 and if you do it will suffer on issues, meaning actually that I believe tp-link will not implement most used vpn protocoll for its customers.

As for threads, kernel question was asked and ignored in another thread, it would be waste of my time to write a thread about it if your developers can not explain internally why kernel upgrade should be done, it seems, devs would be happy with kernel 2 too as long as nobody reports anything.

Have a nice day.

  @Fae

thanks for the beta-version. I just installed it to test the features of the hotspot voucher portal:

Coming from 3.x going trough v4.2.11 I migrated to 5.2.4 (beta). Seems to work this way but all the already created vouchers get "Client Duration" as default value. But for us it should be "Voucher Duration" - any ideas how to change that?

  @Fae

Has the WAN fail over issue been sorted out?

To elaborate, er605 in standalone mode supports custom pings to detect WAN status. This works for failover if primary wan goes down.

In omada managed mode, this option is not available and the default online detection fails to detect WAN outage on the primary for static IP wan setups
