Hello,

I would be very interested in a Apple Homekit Integration of the Software Controller.

Is there anything planned for future? Or is there anybody who has realized it already?

The API should be powerful enough to enable such an integration.

https://developer.apple.com/homekit/

Regards,

Matthias

  @MatthiasLoi Every homekit product is certified separately.  So they would need to certify every omada router individually and pay licencing costs on each one.

Hey

I dont speak for TP Link but in my honest opinion this isn't something that would be integrated into the SDN

The Omada SDN is designed for business application only and specifically for Omada products, integrating Apple "home grade" hardware, especially an IOT hardware solution would be outside their target audience (business)

I cant see what advantage a business grade solution would integrating any Apple IOT support, this is more likely integrated into Deco home devices which already have Alexa support.

  @Philbert

I would not say, that Homekit is something related to "home grade" only.

I can image an environment, where employees are using apple devices and want to enable or disable specific guest WiFi for visitors in meeting rooms e.g. (what would be exactly my idea of integration).

If you are talking about HomeKit router support, I don't think this makes any sense for TP-Link.  For one, you have to pay license to Apple for being certified and I don't think it would make sense for TPLink to add that cost to all these devices.  The process is also pretty complicated and time consuming that I don't think the R&D process is worth it for them either.

At the very least they should add mDNS support across vlans, which I know is in the roadmap.

  @mackworth

As far as I know TP-Link is already certified - they have the KASA products, which are already working with Homekit.

And yes R&D will take some time and effort - but would be also a great marketing feature.

mDNS is another topic - which I solved with external hardware already.

I consider that as solution ;-)
