Is my TL-SG116E slowing my connection down?

Model: TL-SG116E
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20210512 Rel.40890

I have a new TL-SG116E (16 port gigabit managed switch). I have gigabit cable internet coming into my home, then through a Nest WiFi Pro router, then to my TL-SG116E. If I plug a laptop into the LAN port of my router and run an internet speed test, I get a download speed of about 650Mbps. If I plug the TL-SG116E into the LAN port of my router, then plug my laptop into the TL-SG116E and run the same speed test, I get a download speed of about 320Mbps.  I have repeated this several times. I am using 3-foot-long Cat-6 cables for all connections. The Port status shows all connections working and reflecting 1000Mb in Full Duplex. Any idea what would cause the speed difference?

  @Drrmqjones

Could be the switch issue.

If you have two computers, you can use Iperf to test the switch hardware performance:

  @Somnus I finally got the chance to do an iperf test, and these are my results:

C:\Users\rjones>iperf3 -c 192.168.86.50

[  4]   0.00-10.00  sec   823 MBytes   690 Mbits/sec                  receiver

iperf Done.

Shouldn't these be closer to 1000 Mbits/sec?

  @Drrmqjones

Yep, it should be around 1000Mbps so this switch's performance is not good.

  @Somnus after chatting with customer support for about 45 minutes, with them repeatedly telling me to try things I had already tried, asking me for my (irrelevant) ISP speed, etc., I finally convinced them (after telling them 4 times) that I had already done the iperf test and what the results were.  They told me to return the switch for a new one, so that's what I'm doing.
