Slow EAP650 wifi performance

I have a brand new single EAP650 (EU) on gigabit wired backhaul, configured to Auto channel (reporting channel 48 which is strange as I expected 50) with 160Mhz channel width and custom TX Power of 23 dBm which is the maximum. EAP650 is adopted to software controller running 24/7.
I connected my laptop (with an Intel AX200 wifi card in it) to the EAP650 and it reports 2400/2400 link speed on channel 48 (strange should be 50 imho) at 160Mhz however an iperf test from the laptop to the EAP650 server only gives 400Mbps despite the laptop sitting six inches from the EAP650 on a desk.I performed a wifi survey at the time of testing and the mine was the only 5Ghz wifi showing.
I have seen a few other reports of complaints of poor wifi speed... I'm at wits end after playing with this brand new AP for a few days and about to return all my Omada gear if this cannot be resolved.
Omada controller is set to Australian region.
Signal strength also drops off very rapidly with a little distance, much more than on my previous Asus RT-AC86U. To the point it has me wondering if this EAP650 is defective? I'm approximately -70dBm at 10m distance through a couple of plasterboard walls. Also at times even right next to the router, signal strength is only -40dBm... I thought this is a bit low also.
I should also mention the base of the AP gets quite hot, so hot that it is uncomfortable on the hand. Is this expected?

I managed to nearly saturate the 1gbps ethernet backhaul via wifi 5ghz with my laptop by expanding the tcp window in iperf 2 (-w 2m). However the EAP650 processor does not seem fast enough to give proper throughput test when running iperf server on it so instead I ran it on another server hardwired on gigabit ethernet to get this result.
Unfortunately this means I don't have a good way to test if wifi throughput can be achieved faster than 1gbps but given the 1gbps wired backhaul I guess it doesn't matter.
I would like to see TP-Link take this seriously and unlock the TX power and available channels to those legally allowed in Australia

@Zanadar I'm also in a similar situation to yours, I'm having Wi-Fi speed issues to the point where internet at times is not browsable let alone getting stable YouTube videos to play, the only difference is the model of Access Point and that I use 2.4Ghz instead. I spent days and days trying to fix the issue but was unable to find any sort of solution, looking around online or even this forum revealed that Omada\TP-Link Access Points have pretty often issues with Wi-Fi speeds for some reason, wished that was something I knew earlier. I'm frustrated with this and currently considering switching to another, more reliable brand if the issue is not fixed as this is just ridiculous. Something that might help you is that you can find more information on what I tried in my post here as I went to extensive lenghts to get it fixed but still nothing works
