Troubleshooting Tapo Automation: Smart Plug Fails to Turn On at Low Temperature
With the weather getting colder, I thought I’d give my Tapo smart home setup a new twist. I set an automation to turn on the smart plug whenever the temperature drops below 12°C. Seemed simple enough—just a little backup to make sure the space stays cozy without me constantly checking the thermostat.
Most of the time, it works exactly as planned, kicking in right when it should. But every now and then, I’ll get a notification: Failed to turn on the plug. No real pattern to it, just randomly decides not to work when I actually need it.
Now I’m trying to figure out what’s going wrong. Maybe there’s a fix, or maybe it’s just a glitchy side of smart tech. Anyone else have similar experiences with Tapo automations?
