Hey folks, I have an Omada network with an ER605 gateway, SG2008P switch, and EAP653 AP that I tried to use WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE security on. My understanding is, that means the wireless network will support WPA3 if the client supports it, but allows fallback to WPA2 if it does not. However, some of my IoT devices (mainly my Alexa devices with no WPA3 support) have trouble even connecting to my AP with the SSID set to WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE security. Am I understanding it wrong maybe? Worse case scenario I make another hidden SSID for devices that can only do WPA2 but I am trying my best to avoid this. Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I actually discovered it was an issue with faulty band steering methods and once I turned off band steering, all of my devices connect successfully.

Some older IoT devices may be incompatible with WPA3 encryption, as they were developed prior to WPA3 encryption being widely adopted and may lack the necessary firmware or hardware capabilities. As a result, these devices may fail to establish a connection when WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE security is selected on the EAP653. We recommend choosing WPA2-PSK security in your AP settings to ensure that all devices connect smoothly.

We understand your concerns about the security of WPA2-PSK. While it offers slightly reduced security compared to WPA3, you can still enhance your network security by using a strong password. We recommend creating a password of at least 12 characters that contains letters, numbers, and special symbols, which can greatly increase its complexity and security. Additionally, regularly changing your password is a good security practice.

  @Vincent-TP Mostly my Amazon Alexa devices were giving me trouble, as far as I know WPA3 isn't supported on those devices yet
