Ignore my last message. I waited over an hour after upgrading and it was still showing inactive. Guess I should have waited longer because its now showing active.

  @Vincent-TP

After I day of test AFC does stay active but it appears fixing that has caused other issues. Now I have frequent disconnects and reconnects. I can be using my phone, laptop or tv and the wifi will randomly drop and then reconnect after about 5 seconds. For example I was streaming a movie and every minute it would buffer for 5 seconds while it was reconnecting. At first I thought it was the TV but noticed in on all devices.

I will say this is getting really frustrated. I have dropped over $2000 on my omada network setup and it seems like everytime there is an update TP-Link fixes one thing but creates multiple other issues.

The issue I was having has seemed to work itself out. I have however noticed that mesh doesn't seem to work as well. Prior to the update I had the EAP772 running in mesh mode with a signal of -58 dbm and rates of 2.31gbps both up and down. After the update and enabling AFC the signal has dropped to -81 dbm and rates of 1.15gbps and sometimes as low as 550mbps. I thought enabling AFC would allow the unit to increase the TX power of the 6ghz band?

Hi  @bramezan

Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) is primarily used to stabilize the frequency of communication systems, thereby reducing signal drift or interference. However, it does not directly enhance the TX power of 6G, as the core function of AFC is frequency correction rather than power amplification.

Regarding the situation of weakened mesh signal and reduced link speed, have you recently adjusted the positions of the two EAPs? Are there any new obstacles or signal interference? Or have you recently modified the channel, channel width, or other settings of the uplink EAP? All of these will affect the mesh signal strength.

If disabling AFC, will there be any improvement?

  @Vincent-TP

I have seen many times especially with the deco lineup where with AFC support the 6ghz band has the same range as the 5ghz band. Is that not the same with the omada lineup?

Nothing has moved with my Mesh setup. With AFC enabled my signal is -81dbm with a link rate of 1.15gbps TX and 648mbps RX. With it disabled the signal is -70dbm with a link rate of 2.31gbps TX and 1.73gbps RX.

Does the omada lineup not use MLO mesh like the Deco lineup?

Hi  @bramezan

Thanks for the feedback.

We would like to test this at our local lab. To ensure that our test conditions are totally the same as yours, please send us the following information via the ticket TKID250632028:
1. The configuration file of controller (Global View > Maintenance > Backup >export, NOT export for support);

2. The topology of your network, please also include the Deco model number and how do they connected to the EAP unit.

  @Vincent-TP

Do you have a plan to add AFC to EAP772v1 ?

Do you have a plan to realese new firmware with new feature to  EAP772v1 ?

@Vincent-TP would be great if TP-Link could address this issue https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/755870

This makes MLO useless on EAP772 (and probably also EAP773 if they share the same firmware and/or hardware).
