Model: TL-WA801ND
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 3.16 v0001.0 Build 200116 Rel.61815n(4555)

First I have the TL-WA801N - NOT the TL-WA801ND which is the only option on the dropdown.

I have 900 Mbps plus internet connection into my office - the cable from the base router is connected to a TP Link TL-SG105E switch to split the signal between two computers and my wireless access point.
The computers both consistently report speeds of over 900Mbps - up to 980/990Mbps commonly on their wired connections from the TL-SG105E switch.

The wireless access point only puts out around 20-30 Mbps wireless despite being lan connected to the same hub.
I have tried multiple cables - swapping the cable that connects my TL-WA801N with the one that connects to my computers still gives them the same speeds...

The WAP is connected as a simple access point.
I have tried disabling the DHCP server.
I have tried setting it to both Mode 11BGN Mixed and !!BG Mixed

In other words there is something in the configuration that is throttling the wireless output massively - it should be getting somewhere near to 300 Mbps not 20 to 30Mbps...

Any help or advice would be most welcome thank you,
Bill

Hello@Bill_Martin,

Welcome to our community.

Please note that the TL-WA801N has a 1× 10/100M Ethernet Port (RJ45), which means its access speed will not exceed 100M at most. When converted to wireless speed, it will also be lower than 100M. Here is the specification of the TL-WA801N.

You can select the Access Point with Gigabit port here.

Best Regards.
