Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.0 Build 20180710

Similar to https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/826660.

I am unable to access the switch's web interface unless I manually force my laptop to avoid any gateways, even when attached directly to it.

(using:

`sudo ip addr add 192.168.0.100/24 dev eno1`

to force it to resolve the switch directly whilst physically connected.)

I've reset the config and the firmware with no change in behaviour, I've tried it in various positions in the network topology, from being the trunk device under my firewall, to being a leaf at the end of the chain.

This is made even more frustrating by the fact that all the smaller TP-Link devices on my network are accessible and accept IP addresses automatically, even the Archer (in bridge mode) and the EAP access points remain accessible, no matter where I put them in the network layout.

This was running just fine as the backbone of my network up until this year, at which point I lost all web access to it and trying to resolve this issue, especially via the console port, has left me wanting to take up golf using a sledgehammer as my 9-iron and this switch as the ball.

This has been massively disappointing, my prior experience with TP link's management tools and ease of use is why I built both my network and that of my parents' home out of TP-link products.

Is there a simple way just to ensure that the switch behaves correctly with the existing DHCP configuration of my network again, like it used to out of the box?

Factory Reset hasn't done anything to fix it.

Hi  @Minothor

Thank you very much for providing the relevant information.

If you are unable to find the switch’s IP address in the gateway’s DHCP client list, and it cannot be detected by an IP scanner either, it is likely that the switch did not obtain a valid IP address from the DHCP server. In this case, the only way to access its management page is by setting a static IP address.

If other devices on your network are functioning normally and can obtain valid IP addresses, given this device's age, we believe this unit may have a hardware issue. We recommend that you contact the local support or retailer for further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi  @Minothor

Thank you for posting on the business networking forum.

Please try the following suggestion and provide the information:

  1. The firmware on your switch appears to be relatively old. Please try updating it to a newer version.
  2. When did this issue first occur? Did you make any changes to your network settings around the time the issue appeared?
  3. Please ensure that the switch is connected to a non-VLAN network on the gateway.
  4. Do you have another gateway for testing? If so, can the switch obtain an IP address from its DHCP server?
  5. Can you find the switch’s IP address in the DHCP client list on the gateway? Are you able to ping this IP address?

Hi @Nathan-TP, thanks for responding so quickly!

Regarding your points:

  1. I've updated to the latest version (2.0.5 Build 20200304 Rel.55483) but the problem persists, I still have to manually set the route to access the web ui on my laptop.
  2. The issue happened at some point in the past 3 years, I can´t narrow it down beyond that, I set it up after moving and never had any need to access it again until I had to start reconfiguring my network to add and separate a home server and home-assistant sensors.
  3. Pertaining to #2, my home network has consistently been VLAN-less, the reason I need to access the switch is actually to start creating some.
  4. I've tested it so far with:
    1. My OPNSense firewall
    2. My ISP's router
    3. unconnected to any network
  5. No, the traffic passes through the switch fine (this laptop is connected through it now) but it doesn't appear in the connected clients list of the TL-SG105E, nor in the router's clients list and my network scanning tools show everything from the NAS, smaller switches, wireless APs, xbox console and the router, the only devices not shown are this jetstream switch and the unmanaged switch currently replacing it at the core of my network.

Interestingly, although traffic passes through it, using the switch's network diagnostics tools, traceroute fails to ping the gateway router, it's like the switch is invisibly passing data through itself but can´t see any devices itself, even this laptop I'm accessing it with (via that forced route in my ip config) is not showing up as a connected client in the jetstream switch's list.
