I have a TL-SG2216 at a clients office with two LACP LAG Groups, one for a Server and the other for NAS. I've been troubleshooting a situation where one of the server's NIC's will seem to reset for a moment, just long enough to wreak havoc. Even though the NIC's are configured for load LBFO this 'blip' seems to bring things to a screeching halt for a few minutes. I found the following lines in the switch logs. This seems to occur every number of days, about as frequently as the server issue, but not at the exact same time. Of course I did some research and I found some users discussing these logs entries but it was translated from another language and I couldn't discern everything. They did seem to indicate that it started or got worse with a firmware update. Also from what I have seen the available firmware downloads don't mention this particular thing. I'm running stock version 1.0.0.

I'm curious as to what the cause of the CPU spikes are and if they may be related to my other issue?

00:25:06 CPU_LOAD level_3 CPU RISING THRESHOLD: Total CPU Utilization is 100%.
00:22:01 CPU_LOAD level_3 CPU RISING THRESHOLD: Total CPU Utilization is 84%.
23:27:26 CPU_LOAD level_3 CPU RISING THRESHOLD: Total CPU Utilization is 87%

Hardware Version: TL-SG2216 2.0
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20140630 Rel.33944(s)

Thank you.

I think this may be related to broadcast storms. I am trying to figure out proper implementation of spanning tree protocol but it seems to be mostly related to multiple switches. Could someone offer some insight into its use with a single TP-Link switch using two ports to link to a Hyper-V host? Thank you. I'm trying to get load balancing and improved speed.

I feel like I'm talking to myself but...

Yesterday I disabled the LAG/LACP riggings and put the server on a single NIC to the switch. Reverted all switch settings to default. Just now caught a 'blip' on the switch, a brief connectivity loss. Checked the switch logs...

2016-08-24 13:35:06 CPU_LOAD level_3 CPU RISING THRESHOLD: Total CPU Utilization is 86%.

This makes me think it may be an issue with the switch, not the server, LACP, etc. because there's nothing funny going on with the configuration now, just workstations and a server each plugged into the switch with one cable each.

Any thoughts?

Since there were no responses to this thread I managed to solve the problem on my own. It was easy, I ordered a netgear switch and swapped it out. The issue is now resolved.
