Internet cuts out several times a day
Internet cuts out several times a day
So I got the ER605 and also the ER7206 for my home network with a domain controller, exchange, and some vsphere lab work. Everything with the local network is working well however every few hours, sometimes just a few mins, the Omada Controller software on my laptop will show a red error in the log with messages like:
[SFP WAN] of ER7206 is down or [WAN] of ER605 is down (depending on which router I try).
I used my ISP's SFP module and inserted it into the ER7206's SFP port. When I tried the ER605 I used the MC220L SFP converter and plugged it into the WAN port but it doesn't matter which one of these I use it's the same problem every day. The internet still cuts out for a minute then it's fine again for a bit.
Ping -t 8.8.8.8 confirms the issue when it goes down otherwise no dropped packets and the performance is as expected until then. So it's not the Bell modem/router and not the ethernet cable. The only common denomitor is I'm using these two TPLink routers (I first got the ER7206 then in case it was faulty I got the ER605).
I thought maybe it's my ISP modem (Bell Home Hub 3000) so I put that back in the network and the internet is working without issues. I'm using internet vlan 35 just like many others that bypass their Bell HH3000 and they have no no such issues.
I've tried all I can think of including cloning the modem's MAC address although that shouldn't be required. Also tried different public DNS servers and experimented with MTU's.
Anything else I can try before I return these TPLink routers and get something else? I'm running out of time if I want a refund.

I just upgraded as per the instructions. Right away the first entry logged was [WAN] of ER605 is down :-( and I didn't even change anything yet.
After an upgrade, the controller will issue the config to the devices including the gateway ER605, which will generate a "[WAN] is down" log. It should be normal. For your information, the “[WAN] is down” log will appear in the following four cases:
- The physical link down occurs on the WAN interface
- The ISP line is disconnected and then re-dial
- The WAN interface is configured or modified, which triggers re-dial
- Controller issues WAN related configuration to the gateway
Any further concerns, please don't hesitate to give a response to the support email, whose ticket ID is [TKID220122027].
If you didn't receive the support email at all, please feel free to let me know. Thank you for your valued feedback!

@Fae Yes that's expected however when it was happening before I wasn't making any gateway changes. While I cannot confirm the regular wan disconnects could not be the physical wan connection or ISP. With the ISP provided router I had and have no such issues.
For the ER605, the only thing I did before was rename devices since most of them don't pickup the hostname. I did rename a couple since the upgrade to 5.0.30 and so far so good. Since the initial upgrade to 5.0.30, so far the ER605 wan connection is stable. Thanks for your help. I think we can close this case.

@Fae not sure...
i am using as below
er7206 (static ip)
omada controller with 5.0.3
eap 115-21pcs
tl sg2428p -2pcs
tl sg2210mp -1pc
when i configure to voucher authentication it was working fine for only upto 3 to 6hours after that er7206 disconnecting automatically, then it was not connecting again until i change my configuration from voucher authentication into without authentication(open unsecured). i am failing to trace out the issue, i am having the same issue from last 2months still it was open unsecured only, i tried so many ways by watching tp-link support vedios but no use upto now. called technical team to help out the issue, not happy with the suggestion from technical team. in open unsecured settings working fine without any interuptions.
still searching to resolve the issue.
