Dear TP-Link Support,

I am encountering an issue with WAN failover on my TP-Link ER8411 router. The router is set up with two WAN connections for load balancing and failover. However, when the primary WAN goes down, the router does not switch traffic to the second WAN, which remains operational.

Details:

  • Router Model: TP-Link ER8411
  • Firmware Version: [Insert Firmware Version]
  • Issue Description:
    • Load balancing works when both WANs are up, but traffic fails to switch to the secondary WAN when the primary WAN loses connectivity.
    • I have added the echo server 8.8.8.8 for WAN health checks, and these checks appear to be functioning correctly (Ping/DNS).
    • Both WANs have been individually tested and are fully operational.

Troubleshooting Steps Performed:

  1. Verified the failover and load balancing settings.
  2. Confirmed the WAN health checks using 8.8.8.8 (Ping/DNS).
  3. Updated the router to the latest firmware.
  4. Tested failover by manually disconnecting the primary WAN.
  5. Reviewed and confirmed firewall, NAT, and session persistence configurations.

Despite these efforts, the failover mechanism does not engage when the primary WAN experiences failure.

Request:
Could you please assist in identifying the cause of this issue or provide guidance on further troubleshooting steps? If this is a firmware-related problem, please advise on any available updates or fixes.

Thank you for your support. I look forward to your assistance.
