Model: VIGI NVR1004H
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi there :)

I have a setup of 2 C310 camera's that are currently recording to SD Card but I want a continuous backup. Both camera's are connected via ethernet with an Archer C64.

The NVR1004H seems like a good option. However, I had a couple of questions regarding how the video footage can be accessed.

With the camera's recording to NVR, will playback still work on the Tapo app? or will I need to use the VIGI app? and can I still remotely access the camera on mobile network?

Does the NVR1004H also support remote access through another system or will I need to connect direcly with a monitor and mouse/keyboard?

Thank you...

Hi @James_

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Regarding the Tapo, I cannot answer that. You may consult with the Tapo technical support.

Regarding the NVR, when you add the camera to the NVR, it will be available on the VIGI App if you bind it to the TP-Link ID. So, you can view the NVR on the VIGI app. Since the camera is connected to the NVR, you will also gain access to the camera.

Remote access is not possible. You need a monitor and mouse if you want to view it locally. Or via a computer using VIGI Security Manager.

Hi, thanks for your detailed answer. Good to know that that I can use the tapo camera functionality via the vigi app as well

The remote access is not accurate. Let me rephrase it.

So you have different ways:

1. VPN into your local network and you can access the NVR via its LAN IP. You need to host a VPN on your router.

2. Bind to the VIGI app. View it via our platform since it is bound to the cloud.

3. Port forward it so that you can access the web of the NVR and view the live feed yet you are required to have a public IP first.
