Dear Sirs,

I wanted to share a very unplesant observation.

I've gotten into networking thanks to Omada - i'm very glad and happy about it. I've discovered a number of bugs in a few EAPs and ER7212PC. Unfortunately the ER7212PC v1 was slow and got replaced by v2, which came with new features (like DPI), faster processor etc. Generally a better product, so I've decided to upgrade.

Getting v2 online was a challenge in itself. It's almost impossible to find someone, who can state which version is being offered. After some months, I've managed (after 4 times receiving v1 again and sending it back) to buy v2 - I got it from Amazon.

Now, I knew that v1 has a controller version 5.14 and v2 has 5.15, however (in my naivitate) I thought it will somehow be possible to simply import config from v1 to v2. I was stupid. 2 years of tweaking v1 config and, now, after 1h of manual transfer of settings, I've hit the most frustrating element - IP-MAC binding/DHCP blocking-there is no way to export the list from v1 (with controller v 5.14) to v2 (controller v5.15). There is an option to import a list in v5.15 but there is no export from v5.14. Manual export of Bonjour services... good luck as well. EVERYTHING requires one-by-one manual transfer!!!!

It's a known problem with TP-Link/Omada that only specific versions can be exported and imported, which I don't necessarily have a problem with (as new features are added/deleted/restructured), but for god's sake - I've bought a replacement of my old v1, which is with latest firmware 1.3.2 (5.14....) and my v2 has the earliest firmware available (2.0 with controller 5.15) - it's as if someone on purpose made it impossible to transfer settings. I'm pretty certain that there are a lot of v1 users who may want to upgrade to v2, as it's more capable AND is suporting v6 controller, so it's quite obvious that v1 users may want to upgrade to v2... but someone also must have had a corporate meeting titled "how to make it difficult for users to switch from v1 to v2", as I cannot find a different justification.

it will take me another 2h to transfer the other settings. In total of 3h of time wasted. Thanks TP-Link!
