Description

Currently, the built-in SpeedTest feature in the Omada Controller automatically selects the test server. In most cases, it does not select the user's actual ISP server, which can lead to inaccurate routing and suboptimal speed results.

Since the underlying engine appears to rely on Ookla (where a wide range of ISP servers is available), users should have the ability to manually lock or choose their preferred ISP/Server. For instance, the server for a specific ISP might be available and selectable in the Ookla desktop or mobile apps, but Omada completely ignores it during its automatic selection.

Suggested Implementation

Add an ISP / Server Choice dropdown menu in the Controller settings, specifically under the ISP Info tab, right next to the existing Set Capacity option.

• Current Behavior: SpeedTest automatically selects a random/closest server based on geo-IP, often missing the local ISP infrastructure.

• Proposed Behavior: Allow a toggle between "Automatic (Default)" and "Manual". If "Manual" is selected, let the user search for and select a specific Ookla host/ISP server to be used for all subsequent automated and manual speed tests.

Benefits

• Accuracy: Ensures speed tests accurately reflect the bandwidth provided by the local ISP without peering bottlenecks.

• Consistency: Automated scheduled speed tests will yield consistent results over time by querying the exact same server.

• User Control: Aligning Omada's capabilities with standard Ookla applications.
