Hi all,

 

I'm little bit confused, I've seen on the forum, that there was a "Pre-Release" firmware (2.4.0) for my gateway (ER605), but it was never displayed as available in Controller.

 

so, I would like to ask:

  • what is the exact difference between Release Candidate, Beta and Pre-Release?
  • why a Pre-Release isn't displayed in Controller even if I joined Early Access Program?

  @ZoloNN To my knowledge, Pre-release and the releases on the Controller are different release channels. The Pre-releases are manually installed and downloadable from here on the forums, while the Betas that are pushed through the Controller channels are in a later stage of development.

thank you for the answer.

 

so when I understand it correctly, "Pre-release" is something like alpha or pre-alpha version, right?

maybe using standard software release life cycle terminology (pre-alpha -> alpha -> beta -> release candidate -> stable) would be more appropriate and less confusing.
