Omada Controller Release

Hello,

Could somebody please confirm to me whether or not they update this page every time a new firmware has been released - Omada Software Controller | Omada Free On-Premises Software Controller for Centralized Management | Omada Network Support. I have noticed that they haven't updated this in a little while since 29th April 2026 and there have been a few releases since then.

Also when do I expect the next big release to come out? I could download the pre-release version of the controller from this forum but I'd prefer to use the full release version when they come out.

Many thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben,  @Ben_Hall

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have notice your previous post.

You may consider upgrading your software controller to a pre-release version and then check if the migration can be carried out. However, at this point, there is no confirmed release date for the pre-release version of the software controller,  you may need to wait for a while longer. If you don't have too many devices and the configuration is not too complex, you could try forgetting the devices from the cloud controller and then re-adopting them to the software controller directly.

@Ben_Hall Yes, that page is updated when the new controller firmware is ready for release. Firmware needs to go through testing before being officially released, but at this time I don't have an official release date for the next controller version.

Hi Ben,   @Ben_Hall

Thank you for posting on the business network forum.

Please be assured that once our R&D team releases a new firmware version for the Controller and completes the testing process, we will make it available on the official Controller Support page for users to download and upgrade.

Currently, the latest version for the Software Controller is v6.2.10.17, so the Controller version you can find on the official website corresponds to the Software Controller.

We will also post trial versions on the forum to invite more users to experience the new Controller version in advance.

You are welcome to wait for the official website update, or for the firmware push notification in the Controller Management page.

Re:Omada Controller Release

Hi @Nathan-TP,

Thank you for your prompt response. The reason I'm asking the question is because I am looking to migrate to a Software Controller from the Cloud Based Controller as you will have probably notice my question I've raised earlier in a seperate forum post which I've submitted the other day - Migrating from Cloud Controller to Software Controller - Business Community

While I know the Cloud Controller firmware version is greater than the Software Controller, I am unable to migrate because the firmware version does not match to the one on the software controller (v6.2.10.17). Do you think it's worth me upgrading the software controller with a pre-release version so it then matches and nothing else should go wrong during the migration?

I usually do a full backup of the system config from the cloud controller, so I should be able to revert back to the cloud controller is the migration to the software controller was not successful.

Many thanks,

Ben

PS: Just don't want to cause myself a load of stress and frustration when it comes to problems and then having to spend countless hours trying to resolve it.
