Model: SG2008P
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.20.24

Failure to adopt. My management IP is 192.168.88.x but this switch is getting 192.168.0.1. I tried to adopt but the error shows "Device adoption failed because the device does not respond to adopt commands"

I tried this for trouble shooting:

Power cycle

Hard reset on the switch

isolating the switch and going to 192.168.0.1 (saw that this is the swiitch's web ui)

changing lan cables

tried re-adopting multiple times.

Called Omada support (said that i should just reset)

Note: my system is working fine for 3 years, then this. so I do not know what to do.

So there. my system looks like this now.

  @Hansturbo

Hey, if the switch can’t get an IP via DHCP, it will falls back to 192.168.0.1. From what you described, it looks like DHCP is failing on that switch.

Could you share the network topology and your VLAN / subnet setup? That would help narrow things down.

A few things worth trying for debug:

  1. Double-check the DHCP server config for that subnet/VLAN.
  2. Plug a laptop into the same port/location as the switch and see if it can get an IP.
  3. If you can, mirror the upstream port and capture the traffic to check the switch’s DHCP exchange.
