Model: VIGI C340
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.3.2

Based on thorough analyses conducted on the VIGI C540V V1.0 and VIGI C340 V2.0 cameras, as well as two other models I tested but did not note down, regardless of the software version (most recent tests: 2.3.2_Build_260624_Rel. 28718n), there is a problem with port forwarding.

The problem is that when port forwarding is enabled (whether using the default ports or manually configured ones), the ports only work until the first device restart or power cycle, such as after a power outage. After the device restarts, port forwarding automatically disables itself and stops working.

The second issue observed with port forwarding is the visibility of the port forwarding on/off status after logging back in. After logging in and configuring the ports during a session, the port status display works flawlessly; however, when you log out of the browser and log back in, the port forwarding status shows as “disabled” even though it was “enabled” in the previous session and nothing was changed.

Could you please fix this issue in future software versions? I use many such cameras in various remote locations, and the loss of port forwarding causes a huge problem both in terms of their operation and the loss of video feed on external recorders that use these forwarded ports.

Hi,  @abejaIT

Thank you for your post on the business forum.

First, we would like to clarify that the camera’s port forwarding function is essentially UPnP, which requires the upstream router/gateway to support and enable UPnP in order to function properly. Otherwise, the status will always show as “Disable.”

Regarding the issue you mentioned, where the function becomes invalid after a reboot, or the status toggles between “Enable” and “Disable” before and after logging in, this may be caused by a failure in UPnP registration on the upstream device. In particular, during a reboot, the upstream device may cache previously registered UPnP port-forwarding entries and refuse to accept new registrations. For the camera, the “Port Forwarding” toggle is the configuration item, while whether each entry shows “Enable” or “Disable” depends on configuration item, while whether each entry shows “Enable” or “Disable” depends on the behavior of the upstream router/gateway.
