Hi all,

I am trying to extend my ethernet LAN by 260m using two TP-Link MC210CS gigabit media converters and the required fibre optic cables.

On one end, the MC210CS has ALL 4 LED lights on (FX Link, PWR, TP Link, and the TP RX is flashing occasionally).

On the other end, the MC210CS has the FX Link LED OFF and the other 3 LED lights are on (with the TP RX flashing occasionally).

Other details:
- the RJ45 cables are running 1GB (1000BASE-T) ethernet at each end.
- the fibre cables are cross connected: TX at start with RX at the other end; RX at the start with TX at the other end
- I have swapped the fibre pair (blue/brown swapped with orange/green) and get the same result (FX Link is off at one end)
- Both media converters are in "Force" mode
- Fibre strands are all single-mode 9/125um

Any idea as to what the problem might be ?

Try to set one in "Auto" and the other in "Force" mode, then restart them.

I tried one end in "auto" and the other "force". Did not work. Talked to support and they insisted that both ends need to be in the same mode.Next, I ordered a replacement MC210CS and tried to swap each end in turn. The first end (with FX light off) swap had no impact. The second end swap worked instantly (both in force mode).260m fibre link in force mode is now working perfectly.One end of the 260 meter fibre has the MC210CS connected to a Draytek Vigor 130 DSL modem (BT Infinity 2).The other end has the second MC210CS connected to the WAN1 port of a a Draytek 2926 router.The internet performance is 65MB download and 14MB upstream). This should slowly increase over the next 10 days.Thank you R1D2 for your suggestion.
