Why tplinkcloud can access the camera? It just linked with tp cloud account only, no need to setup portfoward/NAT?

I would like to restrict remote ip to connect to the camera thru ‘tpCamera’ app. Thanks

PS: I have checked the router. It haven’t any config related with ipCam....

Hello,

Unlike port forwarding, which access some device/service with its IP address and port number directly, the tpCamera app or cloud website will build the connection through cloud server.

In other word, after the initial setup, the camera will send packet to cloud server to activate/remain the connection, and then the cloud website and app can access the camera through the cloud server based on your cloud account.

So it has nothing to do with port forwaring or remote IP.  You only need ensure your cloud account is secured.

Good day.

And what's the best way to making sure the cloud account is secured, Kevin?

Hi,

First, the cloud account is your email address, and password is needed.

You can set a complicated password to secure it; meanwhile, you can change the password regularly in tpCamera app.

Good day.
