Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 081112

I bought a TL-WPS510U print server this week and I can’t get it to configure.
Every time I complete the step to change my existing wireless router to the static IP address 192.168.0.101 (as per the installation guide) I lose my Internet connection.
I am running Windows XP with a D-Link DSL-G604T router.

the static IP address is used to match the IP of the Printer Sever, this is only temporary, so, do not worry. You may find the instruction on the TP-LINK official website: http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?id=242

My computer is a desktop running XP with an Ethernet LAN connection to a wireless router. The instructions say under the network connections to ‘Right click wireless connection and click properties…’. As it is a desktop, I don’t have a wireless connection icon, so I assume I have to select the Local Area connection to set the fixed IP address.
I change the IP address to 192.168.0.101 as per the instructions and run the software. However, the setup wizard does not find the print server. I can’t get past this stage.

that is not correct. Because the Printer Sever can only be configured via wireless, so, you need a laptop to connect the WIFI of the TL-WPS510U, then change the IP address of the Wireless Network Connection.

ah, that’s the problem. After I change the IP address of the wireless connection, it works!
However, I have logged into that page, and changed everything the instruction told me, I still cannot print…what’s a pity.

you know, on the computer, you need to install the driver of the printer, then you should be able to print. In that case, you can connect your computer to the printer, and check whether you can successfully print a paper or not, otherwise, you need to install the driver first.

I have installed the driver now, but the result is still not so satisfied. It keeps getting interrupted, and sometimes I will get a paper with messy code, any idea about that?

if the printer has reaction, that indicates the connection between the Printer Sever and the computer should be fine. Have you tried to enable LPR Byte Counting? Follow the steps below to check it:
Open Properties on the printer you want to share by print server, Select Port tab, choose the port your printer uses and click Configure Port. On the new window, tick "LPR Byte Counting Enabled".
