TL;DR: portforwarding does not work although i have done everything i can imagine to make it work. pls help. Formal version below.

Router = TL-MR3420 V3

Firmware Version:

3.16.9 Build 160412 Rel.45197n

Hardware Version:

MR3420 v3 00000000

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Portforward or DMZ seems not to work on the described router.
Service is not reachable from "outside" (Internet).
If i plug the UMTS/3G Modem (Usb-Stick) straight into my computer, my service is properly reachable from outside as it should be.
If it is connected to the router, it won't be reachable from "outside" (Internet).
Inside the LAN, the service is reachable properly.

What i have tried so far - without success:
- list computer with running service as DMZ-Host
- add "Virtual Server"  ("Forwarding" Menu)
- add Port-Triggers ("Forwarding" Menu)
- change Firewall Status of router ("Security" Menu)
- change IP-adress for LAN
- assign static IP to computer with running service
- disable DHCP
- change port for remote management

I furthermore noticed in the DMZ menu there is a note saying
" Note:    Make sure the nat is enable if you want the DMZ configuration take effect. "
Where / how can i make sure the NAT is enabled?

I cannot find the option described in this link which shows the green UI: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/540/

I am looking forward to read from you.

Hi,

When you login to the router interface, could you please send us a screenshot on the Advanced-->status page where there shows the Internet and LAN information?

Here is a guide about how to enable DMZ: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1987/

What is the device that you want to enable DMZ for?

Thanks in advance, have a nice day!

Advanced --> Status

Thank you for the link to the guide, however i found that page already and gave it a try, it did not work (i 1st gave normal portforwarding a try before setting the whole PC to DMZ).

The device i want to enable DMZ for is a regular PC, i have a webserver running there (it is not a configuration issue on the PC as when i connect the datastick directly without router to it, the webserver is reachable from the internet; the firewall of the PC is configured properly).

Hi,

What is the IP address and default gateway of this PC? Below is the instruction to find them:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/838/

Meanwhile, in the same network, please test whether you can access it with your PC's IP address and port number;

meanwhile, you can use the WAN IP plus port number to test.

Besides, please use telnet to test:

1. in the same network, please go to run—cmd—telnet lan ip port number

2. in external network, please run—cmd—telnet wan ip port number

Note: Please show us the pictures of the test results.

Good day.

IP 192.168.0.2

Gateway 192.168.0.1

yes, local and from lan works fine

meanwhile, you can use the WAN IP plus port number to test.

when i enter the WAN-IP into a browser it shows the webinterface of the router. this only works in the same network as the router

if i enter the WAN-IP from an external network there is no response

Besides, please use telnet to test:

1. in the same network, please go to run—cmd—telnet lan ip port number

works fine

2. in external network, please run—cmd—telnet wan ip port number

fails

Note: Please show us the pictures of the test results.

Good day.

answers in red; added images

additional notes: portscanner showed router has beside webinterface on port 80 a listening service on port 22 (available only from LAN)

EDIT:

it seems this user has the same problem

"TL-MR3420 Ver:3.0 Port Forwarding not working"

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/92070?page=1&t=2018%2F10%2F18%2003%3A49%3A20%20%2B0000

EDIT2:

this user aswell

TL-MR3420 v3 is not port forwarding
