I’am trying to add a 2nd extender to my home network, so I don’t have to switch between my main router and the extender
i have the router in the living room but I would like to add the extender to the garden

For the new powerline adapter, please just pair it together with the current working powerline adapters, they will work together. Please make sure they are working in the same electrical meter. Here are some instructions for your reference.
