With poor results using an old D-link router, which TP-Link Router best pairs with a CPE610.

A neighbour has graciously offered to share his connection at our cottage, but I have not had good success my old router.

Streaming movie channels is the wish goal.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

@MotorMan

Do you need a cable modem router or regular wireless router?

The CPE610 is an outdoor access point, which supports 5GHz only. You can buy a dual band router to work with the CPE610.

Meanwhile, more specific network requests will help a lot.

The donor signal is too weak at our location with much interference.

I have a CPE610 and set it up as a client.

Recently bought a TP-Link Archer C20 to rebroadcast the connection.

In the CPE610 Pharos access page, I have good wireless  signal quality from the donor.

I can't get it to rebroadcast through the new router.

New access IP is set up to 192.168.10.1 as not to interfear with the donor signal

For CPE610 which works in client mode, there will be no wifi broadcasting anymore, instead, CPE610 connects to the existing network by wireless and we can connect to it by ethernet cable to get internet. So please confirm the operation mode of the CPE610.

Meanwhile, what is the current network topology? How do you want to connect them together?

Exactly, except I have the CPE610 wired to a new Archer20 router to rebroadcast at my end.

I have access to my neighbours broadcasting router and know the broadcast address settings ...

I can't get my router (wired to the Client CEP610), using either static or dynamic ip, to go online.

With computer connected to the CPE610 by wired cable, please verify whether you can access internet; and please click here to get the IP address and gateway of your computer.

Then connect the Archer C20 to the CPE610 and login to the web UI of the Archer C20 and take a screenshot of the status page.

Well Kevin, long story short ...

This weekend I discovered that this CPE610 will not receive/process 2.4G signals, only the 5G, but the Archer C20 would pickup even the weakest of either and rebroadcast or "extend" the signal from the neighbour, something older generation of routers wouldn’t do ...

Athough the CPE610 only received 5G, it did not connect to the net wired directly to the laptop ... Defective CPE610

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your reply;

Per I mentioned at the first beginning, the CPE610 supports 5GHz only, you may ignore that; cause the signal from the donor wifi is weak, it affects the signal strength obtained by the CPE610.

Using 2 CPE devices to builb up a point to point connection will be better; one works as access point, the other one works as client; while that may be inconvenient, cause the AP one need connect to the main router by wired cable directly.

Anyway, considering current situation, with one CPE610 to extend the wifi network may not ensure the daily network activity; you can consider to order your own network connection.

Best regards.
