Model: TL-WPA9610 KIT
Hardware Version: V7
Firmware Version:

I'm researching powerline extenders for my home, and am frankly bamboozled my the sheer number of product/kit IDs.

Our router is in main living room, and we get a decent 200+ meg wifi in most of the house. However son one needs an ethernet connection upstairs for his laptop, whilst son two needs ethernet connection for X-Box in the front room (a boost to the wifi signal would be a bonus, but not vital so long as those two are hard-wired).

I'm veering towards the TL-WPA9610-KIT, however, this only comes with one remote unit, whilst I need two.

I'm unclear as to which add-on unit to buy - I would have expected the website/Amazon to have an 'add an extra remote unit' option, but no.

I'm assuming that all current models (e.g. TL-WPA4220) would be compatible, but if I literally wanted another version of the one that comes in the TL-WPA9610 box, what am I looking for?

Many thanks

@TFPOMR

Per you said, all the TP-Link powerline adpaters are compatible with each other, while you buy the TL-WPA9610KIT as the start kit, then the 4 series won't be recommended.

You can refer to the case 2 of the instruction below:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/stories/detail/564

Meanwhile, cause the powerline adapters are sold as a kit usually, few of them are available as single one, like the TL-WPA8630P.

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/

If you prefer TL-WPA9610KIT, then the TL-WPA8630P will be a good choice as the extra unit; first it has 3 ethernet ports, and it supports wifi function and has a power passthrough.

May it help and have a nice day.

Thanks for the reply.

Just a shame that the starter kit is £99.98 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072QWSCQS/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

Whilst the single extra remote unit is another £89.98 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077ZH6ZR8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

@TFPOMR

The TL-WPA9610KIT and TL-WPA8630P are the advanced powerline adapters which are more powerful, that is why it is expensive.

Others will be cheaper, like the TL-WAP4220KIT, and TL-WPA7510KIT. While relatively, the performance won't be as strong as the TL-WPA9610KIT/8630P.
