Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 build 20190115 rel.60612(5553)

Good morning. I recently purchased the above mentioned router and I am missing the option to send router logs to a remote syslog server located on the internet.

Is this feature available in this model?

Thank you.

@grfilho

Please check under advanced-system tools-system log-mail log page.

You can refer to page 80 of the user manual for more information.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-c6/

Best regards.

@Kevin_Z

Thank you for your reply but sending an e-mail with the log is not the same as sending events to a syslog server. A syslog server receives events as they happen and, as far as I know, it is not compatible with an e-mail system.

What I need is to configure the router to send events to a remote syslog server. I need to know if this is possible in this model.

Thanks.

@grfilho

Thanks for your reply, sorry to tell you that there is no option  to satisfy your needs on the router.

The Archer C6 supports mail server(mail log feature) only now.

Good day.

Sending syslog messges from a network device(router/firewall) as well as SNMP to an internal syslog server should be an option on every device you sell. I assumed this was possible and just realized it is not. Noone should send syslog information across SMTP externally. That is sending your network information and data that could be used to expose your entire network to hackers out to the world. The problem is even worse as your device doesnt not support SSL or TLS for SMTP.

I am on A7 v5.0 HW version.  How can we raise this as a feature request ?

@tkz

Hello, thanks a lot for your valued suggestions.

The features you are requested are not available on the current router firmware, while we have noted that, and we will keep an eye on this kind of request, we will feedback to our related department, and then they will evaluate the feasibility.

Have a nice day.
