@Sunshine

Hello, sorry just seen your response in my email.

The TP-Link RE580D (US) Ver: 1 will not connect to extend my 5ghz network which is served out by a Verizon Fios Router/Modem.  I have tried setting each device to the same channel like 100, or 39, 134 instead of just setting them both up to auto channel.

The TP-Link RE580D Current Firmware is Version 1.0.0 Build 20171114 Rel. 63483

I see that Kevin_Z has said in an earlier post that their was a Beta Firmware that has Been Working that Fixes the Issue, and it has been emailed out to some TP-Link RE580D Users here.  Would it be possible to get this Beta Firmware that others have said in post that it has fixed this Issue.  ?

Thank you

@Kevin_Z

I have never received a response to my requests from (4) months ago for the upgraded beta firmware that supposedly fixes this issue!

I got really tired of only being able to use the 2.4 channel and being ignored by customer service!

So, I purchased an equivalent Netgear Extender and threw the TP-LINK RE580D into electronics recycling trash! The Netgear Extender is working wonderfully.

I will never purchase another TP-LINK product ever again! Product quality is bad and customer service is even worse!

@All

Hi all, Good day!

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Since the beta firmware is for Archer VR900, so if your main router is a different model, the beta firmware is not suitable.(While if anyone who had the VR900 as the main router with the same issue, you could leave your message and I could send you the beta~)

While there is a lot of feedback about the 5Ghz issue on the RE580D here, we hope you could help us check more details:

  1. What is the model number of your main router?
  2. How long have you have the range extender, and did it work on 5ghz before?
  3. A picture of the status page on the RE580D and the system log as well;

(In case I did not see the response in time, you could @me here and also leave me a message, Thank you very much~)

Thank you!

@Sunshine hello.

My main router is a Tp-LINK Archer D9 AC1900.

I have had range extender for about one year and yes it worked before.

Despite the picture I DO get 5GHz from router WIFI but NOT from Range extender.

Regards,

Tony.
