Deco M5 Signal Source

I purchased the Deco M5 as a solution to poor wifi reception at certain areas of the house, esp the garage. The AP I have set up in the garage insists on connecting to the signal source furthest away instead of the one about 5 feet away from it. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying this setup. Any update on when signal source will be a selectable item?

Hi, We are working on the firmware that supports selecting signal sources manually. Please keep an eye on Deco APP and once we release the new firmware, you will get a notification.
Before the official optimized firmware is released, we have a version of firmware that will improve the signal source mechanism on the Deco M5.
Here is the firmware for your reference:

How the beta firmware takes effect:
Please go to More>network optimization on the Deco APP; once you press it, Deco would start to analyze and improve the current network structure;
Note:
1.All the Deco models in the network should be updated to this beta firmware, or the optimization feature is unavailable.
2. the beta firmware could be reverted back to the official firmware;

Hi, we currently only provide the beta firmware for the Deco M5, which can be installed on Deco M5 V1/V2/V3.
As per other models, we suggest you waiting for the new official firmware, which will add the option to select the signal source and will be release soon.

They´ve been saying that this problem will be solved "soon" since 2019.

It's very disappointing and frustrating to see there's still no firmware with this feature.
I live in a big house with 3 floors and thick walls, so I bought 6 M5 units.
Without this feature it's impossible to have the network optimized.
I've tried the suggested beta firmware but it didn't work (installed on all 6 units of course).
If only I knew this before…
