Hi, I bought yesterday this modem 4g, but it keeps disconnecting every 20-30mins, making it not usable.

 

I had to go back and use my old one (which is slower but at least works fine), as each time the M7200 disconnects it literally interrupt what I am doing:

- downloading a file: download cancelled

- having a video call for work: disconnected

- playing an online game: disconnected and game lost

 

Just to precise, when it disconnects it does so for roughly 5 seconds, after which it restarts to work ok. But this interruption is enough to interrupt what I am doing.

This is just not acceptable.

 

I alredy tried changing some settings as you suggested in a similar thread (https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/156141), but the results are still the same!!

I also tried to:

- disable sleep mode, so it is always on

- change channel to the ones you suggested

- change WiFi connection mode (b/g/n)

- change security mode from AUTO to AES

Nothing worked.

I only have a couple of devices connected per time, and when it disconnects each device I have gets disconnected at the same time (not only 1).

 

 

Also, my SIM just works fine, so it's not a problem related to that.

 

The firmware installed is also the last one (already checked from settings and there are no updates available for the device).

 

Can you help me to solve the issue, if it is a software one and not hardware?

I have the same problem with the MR200, but I got no answer so far...

A lot of people seem to have disconnection problem, but no solution.

I see we've posted similar and thanks for commenting on mine. I see yours disconnects for about 5 seconds. Mine turns off completely as if the battery is dead but it's not. Has plenty of charge, at over 80% this morning. It makes the device unusable.

@sirlollodod I have the same problem - bought this last week. and unusable due to frequent drop offs. Any solutions anybody found ?

No solution, sadly.

 

Tp-link assistance is simply not existing (never got a reply in 1 year).

 

I had my router being substituted by the seller who I bought from, but even the 2nd router had the same defect (shown immediately after trying it).

 

I solved the problem by simply having a 3rd substitute from a different brand (in my case Huawei, which wors perfectly).

 

So the solution is simply to move away from tp-link.

Since purchase (end of 2019), my M7200/V1 also regularly does not connect to the internet, despite the 4G coverage being excellent. After checking the quality of the internet connection by the M7200, there is a connection, but without internet.

 

I added a specific profile and changed the DNS server to 8.8.8.8, but that doesn't solve the internet connection problem. The M7200 log file does not contain any relevant user information. Workaround is to restart the M7200.

I'm using a M7350 but looks like I have the same kind of issue (the full thread here)

 

Looks like my issue is related to frequent channel switchings of the M7350 which disconnect all connected devices for a couple of seconds.

Does the Device -> System Log of your M7200 (http://tplinkmifi.net/) shows some entries related to channel switchings which may explain the situation ?

M7450 also have seems to have a problem. Has your problem been resolved? I get disconnected always.

Yes, the issue has been solved by changing device with a new one from a different brand (paid by me), as tp-link assistance is non existing.

 

This is the 3rd time for me that a new device from tp-link is faulty and that their assistance is literally ignoring me: solution for the future is to simply stay away from this awful company and buy another brand (ie. Huawei worked perfectly for me for 2+ years since I replaced the tp-link model from this thread).
