I have 4 Deco M5 running latest Firmwares.
I would like to know how the wireless backhaul of M5 works... I have a 100Mbps Fiber connection and I usually get 105 Mbps on the main deco. The slave decos show decent connection signal to the main deco but the throughput is around 85 to 90 Mbps only. The decos are as placed follows:
Hallway (Main Deco)
Living room (signal source : main deco)
RC Room (signal source : main deco)
Master bedroom (signal source : main deco)
It's like a star topology.
First question...
Is that normal?
The distance between my decos is not more than 15 ft each... Infact the master bedroom one is 7 ft away only. The only issue is all decos do not have Line of sight to the main deco. Only the living room one can see the hallway deco directly and it performs good.
Second question...
If I upgrade to M9 plus, would I really see an improvement in the speed through slave decos?
Third question..
If I disable the 5 ghz band, can it be totally dedicated to the backhaul? I understand that decos cannot be configured by the end user to choose the backhaul frequency as yet... But would it be available in the future?
Fourth question...
If I disable the 5Ghz band from main network and guest network, would deco automatically choose 5ghz as backhaul bandwidth?
Thanks.
