Wireless Backhaul for M5

You have 2 wifi connections between main deco. Your computer to slave deco, slave deco to main deco and don't lost 15% of your speed. Don't worry about this. 

Wanna really test slave speed? put PC/Notebook via Ethernet and test. 

i have 400mbps fiber on main deco, god 400 into main deco and got 300 in each slave point.

But what about the other queries? Would deco use 5Ghz as dedicated backhaul frequency if I free it from the main and guest network? Would it increase the speeds on slaves? 

Would I see any difference if I upgraded to M9 plus? 

Deco M5 use both 2.4 and 5 to backhaul. No, M9 you don't gain much. M5 is a most stable product for Deco line M.

Backhaul use hidden network between decos.

I did check the way you suggested and happy to report that all of my decos have great wireless backhaul. I  was able to get more than 100 Mbps on all decos through ethernet port. I am on the 100 Mbps download and upload plan. 

However, there is one more doubt that I wish to clear. 

My living room deco that is connected to hallway (main deco) has a good backhaul but when clients connect wirelessly the download suffers a bit. I am assuming that there is a string overlap of wifi signals from hallway and living room deco. When the living room deco is powered Off, I still get good signal from the hallway deco and speeds of more than 100 but when both the decos are on, and my phone connected to living room deco, the speed goes down to 80 to 85.

I am somehow suspecting that the distance between the 2 decos is not ideal and hence the signal from both decos are interfering with each other. Ideally it shouldn't be like that. I may remove the living room deco if this is correct. Please help me if my understanding is correct.

Is there suppose to be an ideal distance to be maintained between 2 units so that they don't kill each other's signal?

Eventually I took the plunge and upgraded to M9 Plus. 

I can say that there is a lot of difference that I see in the speed. Maybe bacause of the dedicated wireless backhaul. My speeds are more than 240 Mbps download and upload both even on the slave decos M9. My ISP is delibering 250 Mbps on fibre optic. So it's damn close. M5 Gateway router was delivering the same speed but the slaves never went beyond 130. With M9 plus running the latest 1.4.2 firmware deliver 240 all a cross the 4 nodes. Could be because this is a AC2200 system compared to the M5 that was only AC1300. 

From my experience, what I have learnt is that an AC1300 system is good upto 100Mbps internet speeds but if you are on a 200 Mbps plan an AC2200 will do a better job. And If you are on anything above 200Mbps plan, an Ac3000 should be ideal.
