@Glovej

Thank you very much for your feedback.

We have released the latest firmware(1.0.5) of HS220 V2.

Please try to upgrade HS220 to the latest firmware online in Kasa APP. And then the auto-reboot problem can be solved.

While after the firmware 1.0.5, if the issue still exist, please send me a private message, or send an email to support@tp-link.com with the subject[Forum ID 235006] Switch randomly turns off and immediately back on;

Thank you very much.

@Glovej

Having same reset problem with 3 new HS220s V2.0 FW:1.0.5 bought from Amazon in late November and just able to install yesterday.  Noticed that ALL three continually reset (turning switched lights ON/OFF with amber and multiple green signal lights) when I turn ON my Samsung TV (Model UN55NU800D).  Have other HS200 and HS210 switches with no problems. Have two other Samsung TVs (Models: UN43NU6950 & UN50KU6300F) that DO NOT inflict the same issue on the HS220s.  Please advise regarding fix.

I have a large setup (over 19) HS210 and HS220 switches installed and two cameras (KC105). They are all correctly installed by a professional electrician on a home that was built new in 2002.

Since day one i've had this one issue with the switches.

1 Random times per day, most all switches turn on and then back off within 1 second with no action on my part. It is like the switch is rebooting and deciding to turn on the lights for no reason.  this is really annoying and last night was worse and it did it at 3am as everyone was sleeping, the lights going crazy caused me to wake up.

i really like the product but see no value in keeping them as they are.

i have the app running on my google pixel phone and checked the firmware, says no update needed, unsure the version as the app does not show.

i have tplink wireless modem running on 300+ mbps undergorund wiring to my closet, i have multiple tv's and laptops that run on wifi with no issues.

i have one switch that is constent red and electrican states he believes that its DOA from manufacturer, all bought from amazon or best buy.

i had IFTT running a command but have since removed that and i dont have any away modes running.

please help with this annoying issue.

@TP-Link

I have 2 H200'a and also a H220 currently installed, updated to the newest firmwares, and they all have this problem. Randomly throughout the day, the lights will turn off and turn on real quick. One thing i noticed is that when this happens, the wifi light blinks green for a short period of time.

I have a box of multiple H200's and H220's i ordered from Amazon, was planning to switch out all my light switches to Kasa switches, but after testing and reading the forums, sounds like there is no fix for this issue. I'm gonna have to return them all, kinda sad as these switches looks great!

Better idea... why don't you guys (tp-link) setup a dev environment and test this yourselves before asking your customers to do the work for you. This was requested of me a number of weeks ago. I have 60-70 devices and a number of automations setup. It took me a long time to get it all installed and setup, and I'm not going to spend a day (or two) creating an isolated environment. Please test this in your labs and report back to us as to what the issue is. Thanks, Steve

@Andercam I agree. I spent several weeks troubleshooting with Kasa support following what they described above only for it to not be resolved. I thought it was but the lights turned off and back on again last night even with my switches being on their own isolated network.

@Solla-topee

Info As Requested...

1.  Kasa Model HS220, HW: 2.0  FW: V1.0.5  (all up to date)

2.  Automatic reset occurs approximately every 30-seconds on main 2.4GHz WiFi SSID, depressing the Factory Reset button is INOPERABLE, does NOTHING.  Must delete the device from Kasa App and turn off line power (trip circuit breaker) to perform a manual Factory Reset with button.  Have other HS200 and HS210 switches operating normally, no problems/issues.

3.  Created an isolated GUEST network with new SSID and placed only HS220s on it.  It's been a week and magically the HS220s seem to now work properly, However, not an ideal solution and should not be THE SOLUTION.

4.  No mesh network.  Have approximately 2-dozen other diverse WiFi devices on 2.4GHz WiFi.

5.  Topology:  Verizon Fios G1100 Router, HW: 1.03, FW: 02.03.00.08 @ 192.168.1.1  Dual 2.4/5 GHz WiFi frequencies in use. 2.4GHz Compatibility Mode(802.11b/g/n).  Guest Network uses 192.168.200.XXX.

@Solla-topee

I've had this problem for a couple months. Originally it was a single switch in an upstairs hall that reset a few times a day and turned on and off. Not a big deal as no one uses that area of the house.

now within in the two weeks this has extended to 6 more switches.

I've had GE switches since 2018 and never touched them. Switched out a few old dumb switches in 2020 and decided to go with KASA for these new switches (like the look) but boy, am I regretting it!!

This guest network solution is a headache and totally impractical. Why don't you fix the firmware issues instead of telling your customers to create workarounds? This has been an issue for a long time for a lot of people and should be a priority for KASA to resolves
