  @Solla-topee

TL-WPA4220 with 5.0 EU on beta dhcp stopped after static IP set up. Love it, thanks a lot :)

  @Solla-topee

Please advise which FW to get for TL-WPA4220 V5 (EU). The link you posted for official FW only lists HW rev V1 to V4

EDIT I was getting the download page for Austria which doesn't list V5, but when I force it to the global website I do see a V5 release:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wpa4220-kit/v5/#Firmware

TL-WPA4220(EU)_V5_1.0.1 Build 220613

Assuming that's the one I need

Thanks!

One more remark:

I have DHCP client also off (fixed addresses) yet the log still says DHCPC started:

1 INFO 0days, 00:00:00, LAN:Attach mirror0 to stack.

2 ERROR 0days, 00:00:00, SNTPC: select sntpc local port 29835..

3 INFO 0days, 00:00:00, LAN:Set interface mirror0 ip=192.168.89.11 netmask 255.255.255.0.

4 INFO 0days, 00:00:00, DHCPS: Dhcps has stopped.

5 INFO 0days, 00:00:00, HTTPD: Http server start!

6 INFO 0days, 00:00:07, DHCPC: Start DHCPC

7 INFO 0days, 00:00:14, DHCPC: Recv OFFER from server 192.168.89.1 with ip 192.168.89.11

8 INFO 0days, 00:00:57, DHCPC: Recv OFFER from server 192.168.89.1 with ip 192.168.89.11

And with this latest FW there is still instability: there are 4 devices forming the network and about every 30 minutes or so the connection is briefly unavailable

I'm pinging the router, and for a few seconds it is not reachable, but wifi is up and connected. Also can't reach any of the TPlink devices web interfaces.

I checked the logs of all 4 devices, nothing in there when the disconnect happens!

Hello   @peturdainn

Thank you for reporting the issue, besides set up a static IP for the wireless powerline unit, make sure you have set up DHCP Server OFF as well.

For TL-WPA4220 (EU), you could also download latest firmware.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-wpa4220/#Firmware

If the same happens, can you share a photo of the current DHCP setup on the WPA4220, and a photo of firmware in the Build number, model of router and network map, thanks.

Some local website may not list the latest firmware, i will share it with related team for an update.

@Solla-topee please find the requested info below.

The MikroTik is in hotspot mode and has a switch attached on which the transmitter for the 4 TP-link units is attached. Reducing the number of devices to two doesn't change a thing, we already tried that...

Hello   @peturdainn

As double-checked, the log does not say DHCPS- server has started it only shows the powerline unit working as a DHCPC, the client which gets an IP address from local DHCP server 192.168.89.1. Here is a part of log on #145 for comparison.

If you use the Wi-Fi power line unit as AP, please do not pair the powerline kit, otherwise there is a loop in your network.

Example: router--switch--WPA4220 #1, router--switch--WPA4220 #2 , make sure the extenders are not paired to each other.

Usually you do not need a switch connect to the powerline extender, the powerline extender receive signal from the main powerline adapter through house powerline.

Recommended network topology : router-- main adapter ______House Powerline ___extender powerline unit.

We created a support email TKID220834919 to look into your case further, you could reply to support ticket and our support will assist further.

@Solla-topee Can you elaborate on that?

What are 'main adapter', 'house powerline' and 'extender powerline' in your reply??

The kit contains 3 devices:

- one is plugged in at the router: TL-PA4010

- two are the AP placed in the house (WPA4220)

We bought 2 kits, and use only one TL-PA4010 at the router (the one of the second kit is still in the box)

We paired 4x AP (WPA4220) 'wifi extender' to the TL-PA4010 and distribute them in the house

Where is the loop? This is literally in your documentation:

@Solla-topee Can you please provide an update for those of us with WPA9610? This article is supposed to address that product too. Do any of the firmwares posted support that device? If not can you please advise when a firmware will be available? It's been years, please help.
