@TP-Link

When can we expect a fix for Deco M4? this has been going on for over a year, and we still are without a fix.

I'm trying to work and can't even work properly because TP-LINK M4 keeps pairing with the 1st Node, and not the 2nd.

I'm considering this a false advertisement:

3rd device doesn't connect to 2nd false. So this is misleading advertising, and TP-LINK should be penalized for that.
Once again, i'm experiencing this for over a year... was hoping to see efforts for a fix. but nothing. And the misleading advertising is still going on, misleading people in buying something that doesn't work as advertised.

I look forward to hear something from TP-Link soon.

@Bruj

Hi, I happen to see that you are on firmware 1.4.3.

And the firmware 1.5.2 build 20210916 has added a new feature “network optimization” which would help optimize the signal source selection.

Maybe you could try to update the firmware to have a look.

@Andyl73 For the Deco P9, it is a little bit different from other mesh systems.

Once the powerline backhaul is activated, the signal source of the powerline backhaul is always from the main P9.

@TP-Link

Regarding P9 - I have the issue that the ethernet backhaul and the powerline backhaul is quite often broken and the decos are conneting to each other as the like.

So if it would be possible to set eg Deco 1 to Deco 2 only with ethernet backhaul and Deco 3 only to deco 2 via ethernet backhaul and all the other Decos (in my case Deco 4-Deco 6) to define other decos it would be far more stable.

Just return them (if possible). It looks this is very well known and the same happened to me with the Deco X68. Without regards of the devices location, they ALWAYS look to connect in a "star" topology, which, evidently does not work for everyone. Then, it is claimed that the system "automatically" selects the best signal, which in my case, is also misleading not only network speed on far devices spoke by themselves, the system was not very stable.

I'm more than willing to "retry" these devices once I hear that those issues are resolved, otherwise, the price tag does not justify the effort.

In the meantime and even though they is not 802.11AX capable, three Google Wifi's (AC2200) are more stable, giving me coverage in places where the three X68's did not and I get around the same network speed (of course, knowing is not possible to manually select the source on the X68s, which may probably be the reason)

@TP-Link Any update on this for the e4 & m4 units? I have 2 M4 units (1 as the router and 1 with a cabled backhaul at the other end of the house) and all the e4 units (3 of them) insist on connecting to the router instead of the closest backhaul unit. This results in slow speeds.

@TP-Link

Any firmware available for S4?

This is extremely disapointing to have to find out that these products do not do what they are advertised as doing.

The reason I purchased these is precisely due to the advertisment of they operating in a 'ranch style house' but they absolutely do not work that way.

Very disapointing. I hope there is some beta firmware available that will allow me to select the source manually to enable the ranch style house configuration.

@CalumHunter @TP-Link

This is a textbook case of false advertising.

This product does not do "mesh" networking at all.

@tplink I want a full refund for my purchase since the product does not do what it claims to do. I will return my hardware to you. Where should I (we) send it? Thank you.

@TP-Link

I am using M9 Plus and updated the latest firmware but there is no option to allow me to manually select the Signal Source. All my statelite nodes are still connected to the main Deco with weak signal rather than the nearest nodes.

Please advise.
