Hello @skeltavik  @Bhjs77

Thank you for posting on the community.

Can you please help confirm more details as I asked @Lacayo in the above response? As I can confirm, this version would be a big step forward to support some new features, such as VPN Client, so there might be some unknown issues when working in some particular network or environment that haven't been observed. But please don't worry, we will ask the developers to review the firmware and help confirm.

If you're also willing to help and find out what's going on with the latest version, please help check the details below. Thank you very much:

1. Are there also some EasyMesh extenders or powerline adapters in the AX6000 network? Are they joining the network via Onemesh?

2. What are the wireless security settings on the AX6000? Please try changing the security type to WPA2-PSK, AES, then monitor if the wireless is stable.

3. Please also review the wireless networks around you, and try finding a clearer network by modifying the wireless channels for 2.4G and 5G.

I definitely would rather have the step forward and new features but stability is key. At this point I would really like a way to downgrade back. To answer your questions

1. No easymesh, powerline or onemesh
2. Already using WPA2-PSK AES
3. Very few networks around but none in range using the same channels. Partial overlap on the periphery of the channel with one 4 lower.

@Kevin_Z Hi Kevin, thanks for you follow-up.

Below my answer to your questions:

1) I have my TL-WPA8635P Wi-Fi powerline connected to my AX6000 v1 via OneMesh, just as I did before the upgrade. They were working perfectly synchronized. I temporarily unplugged them, yet I see the same behaviour. Some devices reconnect randomly to the router without any plausible explanation.
2) Both on WPA3 combined with WPA2-PSK, the same behaviour appears.

3) There are no direct changes to networks or SSIDs in my close neighbourhood. The channels are not congested, so I don't think that makes a difference in signal strength or hiccups.

FYI: instability occurs on 2.4GHz as well as 5GHz

Looking forward to a new stable firmware ;)

re

Firmware Version:

1.3.0 Build 20221208 rel.45145(5553) on Ax6000 v1

I upgraded yesterday and these are the most noticeable issues so far:

1. Password access to the router stopped working so i had to reset the router and then manually reconfigure everything.

2. The VPN client does not work. It simply sits "connecting". Note the identical credential do work when connecting to the server using the VPN client setup on my other devices.

3. The log still captures virtually no useful information (on anything much really) so it is impossible to see what the problem is (see extracts below).

4. The traffic statistics function has gone. This was a key feature.

5. The DHCP reservation entries, list of DHCP clients and list of "Connected clients" still has no sort capabities leading to a very long random list of entries that is difficult to use.

6. There are too few assignable client "types" to be useful.

This is what the log shows when attempting to connect as a L2TP/IPsec client:

2023-05-08 13:29:57 NAT INFO [18461] Initialization succeeded

2023-05-08 13:29:57 NAT INFO [18461] Initialization succeeded

2023-05-08 13:29:53 Traffic Statistics INFO [8697] stats reset

After which it sits until the enable is turned off when the same records appear:

@slads

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

As per the firmware release notes, I assume there is no change or modification has been made to the login access. Please keep monitoring the login access and we will also pay attention to similar feedback.

With regard to the VPN Client configuration failure, can you please go through the following thread and help provide more details?

What if VPN Client is not working?

Traffic statistics/monitoring was removed from the firmware due to memory or firmware limitations. As you already find out, this latest version added or optimized lots of features, which would require more capacity for the CPU and or memory.

For other features or functions you mentioned above, I believe those are not yet improved in this version, but we will keep optimizing the overall performance and functionality as we always do.

  @Kevin_Z

 congratulations on releasing new vpn, but it doesn't seem to relate to the latest post about the new VPN Apk Client firmware for Archer AX11000/AX6000 V1. However, I can say that keeping your router firmware up-to-date is important for maintaining security and functionality. The latest firmware update seems to include some useful new features and enhancements for the Archer AX11000/AX6000 V1, such as adding a VPN client and improving system stability.

If you're experiencing any issues with your router or the firmware update process, don't hesitate to reach out to the TP-Link support team for assistance. It's always better to get help from the experts rather than potentially causing more issues by attempting to fix things on your own.

  @Kevin_Z

Thank you for your prompt and helpful reply Kevin.

Per you suggestion I looked at the VPN Cient troubleshooting link and noted it mainly referred to OpenVPN whereas I had been trying L2TP/IpSec. So I switched to OpenVPN which I am happy to say works.

Pity about the loss of traffic stats but the Client VPN function is a great addition.

Many thanks again.
