Regarding this issue, we would like to know:

1. Is the internet connection 100% stable before this firmware update? Is updating the AX11000 firmware to 1.3.1 Build 20220721 the only change before and after the internet issue occurs?

 

Yes, before this update my connection never faltered. I had changed no config settings until the update. When updating I enabled the auto-update setting for the firmware, switched to 24h clock, turned off WPS, and turned on the

Malicious Content Filter, Intrusion Prevention System, and Infected Device Quarantine.
 
When I factory reset the device I did not alter any default settings and the issue persisted.

 

2. When the internet is not available, what is the LED status on the AX11000, orange or white?

 

Orange.

 

3. Will the internet recover if you click the Release then Renew on its web GUI?

 

 

 

4. Your Country and your Internet Provider.

 

Canada, Teksavvy (using Rogers lines)

 

Additional Details

 

I validated that it is unlikely to be an overheating issue by putting it directly in front of an AC unit, restored to factory settings and rebuilt my config, and I also tried reverting to an earlier version of the firmware but it would not accept the binary for the previous version. Not sure if the last one is an intended guard against downgrades. Traceroute can't make it out past my wired router and my ISP confirmed a strong signal and no detectable issues on their end.

No, I haven't tryed to turn off, because I use it :) (what is the fun to have 3 WiFi bands if I need to connect my devices manualy on a "free band"?) I like to have only one network and router manage itself how devices will connect to WiFi based on use and disctance/power of signal. I work from home (one PC and one laptop), wife also is working from home, kid are using TV (on streaming), phones, tablet, etc :)  and with WPA2 AES and Smart connect, router is making a good job with automatic switching bands - so I have the best speed, based on need.

Maybe it will work without SmartConnect - but I prefer to use SmartConect and keep WPA2(AES)

 

The issue is that after a while, the phone (or tablet) are still conected to WiFi, but it says "No Internet" - and the internet on all others devices is working fine - and the led on the router is white - only fix is to disconnect phone (tablet) from WiFi and connect it againg, and internt is working again on the device(at least for a while). I have tested today with some devices for aprox 8 hours:

 

1 x Windows 10 Laptop - no issue

1 x Windows 11 Laptop - no issue

1 x Windows 11 Insider Preview PC (Wireless connected) - no issue

1 x Samsung S22 Ultra (Android 12) - no issue

1 x Google nest - no issue

1 x Android TV - no issue

1 x Smart TV (Horizon) - no issue

1 x older phone (it have only 2.4 Ghz band) - no issue

1 x Samsug A72 (Android 12) - have issues.

1 x Samsung Tab A7 (Android 12) - have issues

 

I didn't test today, but in the past also this phone had issues with WPA3+WPA2(AES)

So, I assume that is something on Samsung software that is incompatible with that combination of settings. I haven't tried with WPA3 Personal (without WPA2 AES) - because I have some old devices that doesn't have WPA3 - so I need WPA2.

I will try to use a guest network for that old devices (with WPA2), and setup just WPA3 on main network - to test for a while.

It is not possible to downgrade to the previous version (firmware 1.3.1 has limitation to downgrade to 1.2.XXX).

 

Kevin_Z can contact you with engineers and they can send you lower stable version of firmware, in my case version 1.3.0 Build 20220221 solved my problem (AC11000 was hanging on with orange light, with no connection to the internet after reset/restart of ISP modem)

Of course you will do as you choose, however:

1) Having three separate bands allows you to fully customize the router and utilize its potential. Namely, you can determine which Channel Widths and Channels work best in your specific scenario, and, by assigning specific devices to individual bands, you can assure yourself of optimal throughput. Myself, I have my two printers and a washer-dryer on 2.4 GHz, a PlayStation, iRobot and a few other basically AC devices (i.e. connecting at up to 867 Mbps) on the first, weaker, 5 GHz band, and all my PCs and smartphones (including - how ironic - my wife's Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) on the second 5 GHz band. Thus, every device works to its full potential.

2) The time spent on configuring your individual setup, with the personalized selection of channels, etc., is never wasted, because you get a clean, fast and stable network.

3) "Smart Connect", which is now basically a generic name for a functionality added by all router manufacturers, does not enjoy a good reputation. The reasons for this are manifold, the foremost being devices getting shunted to the 2.4 GHz band (which will always be the strongest in every scenario), speed irregularities, connection issues, and various other assorted quirks.

Just my ten pence worth.

My internet connection was stable prior to updating to 1.3.1 Build 20220721. After updating, my AX11000 disconnects after an hour or two. Restarting the router solves the problem, but the router will disconnect again.

The LED is red when the internet is not available.

 

3. Will the internet recover if you click the Release then Renew on its web GUI?

Yes, this restores internet access.

 

4. Your Country and your Internet Provider.

I am in Ontario, Canada. My internet provider is Carrytel. However, I purchased my router in the United States.

My internet connection was stable prior to updating to 1.3.1 Build 20220721. After updating, my AX11000 disconnects the intyernet after a day or so. Restarting the router solves the problem, but the router will disconnect again.

The LED is red when the internet is not available.

When I restart the router by taking of the power it restarts and internet is recovered

I look forward to helping as the random failures are frustrating for me and I also know as a developer that it can be difficult to find issues when they appear to be at limited customers.

 

I was using the beta version with the VPN Client for a "long" time and there were no issues with the internet going down like we see in the released 1.3.1 version.

 

Whatever is causing the problem was introduced in the changes between the beta version wit the VPN client and the released version.
