Firmware Version: 1.13.2 Build 230824 Rel.74702n(4555)

Hallo,

I activate WDS mode according to the procedure below:

- Log into TP-Link wireless router’s management page

- Go to Wireless -> Wireless Settings. Check Enable WDS (Enable WDS bridging).

- Click Search/Survey. On the pop-up window, find the SSID and channel of your my AP, and hit Connect.

- The root AP’s SSID and BSSID (MAC Address) are filled in automatically. Then input the wireless security settings and wireless channel to match the ones on the root AP. Click on Save.

- Click DHCP-> DHCP Settings page. Choose Disable DHCP Server, and click Save button.

- Go to Network->LAN->Modify the LAN IP Address of the router-Save.

Change the router’s IP Address to be in the same network of the root network. Root router’s IP Address is 192.168.1.1, IP Range is 192.168.1.2~192.168.1.100 - my TP-Link router with WDS has 192.168.1.2.

- Go to System Tools-> Reboot page to reboot the unit.

After rebooting router everything works perfectly on 2,4GHz wireles network - when I switch to 5GHz network (with followong the same, above procedure) I can see that WDS status is "Connected" but I can't access Internet, ping result for 192.168.1.1 (root router) is negative !

I found only difference in Wireless Settings : 2,4GHz is on  Channel 6, Mode 802.11 b/g/n mixed - 5GHz is on Channel 48, Mode a/n/ac mixed.

What should I do to have WDS working properly on 5GHz wireless network ?

Jarek

If the root router IP Range (DHCP server) is 192.168.1.2~192.168.1.100, I would set C80 to be 192.168.1.254 (outside this IP range).

Since 5Ghz band coverage is less than the 2.4GHz band, make sure that C80 is close enough to your root router for a better signal reception.

The WDS building procedure for both wireless bands should be the same.
