@David-TP Nothing special to report with new update for Deco X50 satellites, but the Deco X50-DSL firmware has been stuck since June 2024. It turned out to be a waste of money, so I stopped using it and switched back to my previous VDSL2+ modem, the Archer VR2100. It's now connected to three Deco X50 satellites and working reliably.

Hello everyone,

I’m using a Deco X50 V1 system in Router Mode, connected behind a FritzBox which handles PPPoE, DHCP, and internet access. The Decos are responsible only for Wi-Fi, DHCP in their subnet, and LAN backhaul. My setup works very well on firmware 1.6.1, but I experienced several problems when testing newer versions.

Here is a summary of the issues I faced:

✅

Firmware 1.6.1 (current setup)

  • Very stable in daily use
  • All clients are shown correctly in the app
  • LAN backhaul works without problems
  • No random disconnects or mesh issues

❌

Firmware 1.6.3

  • Stability problems
  • Clients sometimes not shown correctly in the Deco app
  • Occasional mesh/backhaul irregularities

❌

Firmware 1.6.4

  • Worse performance compared to 1.6.1
  • Device list issues (disappearing or duplicated clients)
  • Some Wi-Fi instability
  • No improvement over 1.6.1

❌

Firmware 1.6.7

  • Still unstable based on my tests
  • Client assignment and roaming not reliable
  • Higher latency / performance drops
  • No benefit compared to 1.6.1

❓

Concern about Firmware 1.7.1

Since 1.6.1 is the only version that works reliably in my environment, I’m unsure whether to update to 1.7.1. PPPoE bugs in that version don’t affect me because the FritzBox handles the connection, but I’m worried about:

  • Client visibility in the Deco app
  • Mesh/backhaul stability
  • Wi-Fi reliability
  • DHCP behavior
  • Performance regressions

✅ Question to the community:

Has anyone with Deco X50 V1 (not V2/X55/XE75!) upgraded from 1.6.1 to 1.7.1 and can share real-world feedback?

I want to avoid the same problems I saw in 1.6.3 / 1.6.4 / 1.6.7, so any experiences – positive or negative – would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!
