RE705X - Extremely low download-, normal upload speed
Hello,
I am recently having some very bad issues with my RE705X (specs at the end of this post). I am using it to extend the network from a nearby home and recently the speeds have dropped to under 3Mbps, which makes it practically unusable. Upload speeds remain normal around 25Mbps (all the time), which is expected on a 100Mbps connection that is not close by and also obstructed by some walls. Last year there were no issues at all and the connection was stable around 20-25Mbps.
I have run out of options to check. I have switched off the 5G mode and tried only 4G. I have the smart mode on (which I believe is only turning one of the channels off).
The weird thing is that when I reboot the device it seems to be back to normal download speeds for some time, only to drop below 3Mbps after some time. (How to monitor this?)
I am starting to think the device might be faulty!
What else can I do? There is no way to change the wifi channels on my end (which appears to be very stupid, because most of the troubleshooting guides on the web say that one should first switch to less used channels!). Is there a way to do do this on the RE705X? There seems to be no advanced mode where one can select channels.
What else can I do to investigate / solve this issue?
Thanks in advance,
SNU
