Hey,

I just bought this wifi adapter and it keeps spiking up to 8000ms every 10 sec ( using Meter(dot)net and playing Cod )  ...No matter which frequency im using 2.4GHz or 5GHz it randomly disconnects and reconnects the device to the pc. There are no other wifi channels nearby that should make trouble to the router.

  Tried every "Official" troubleshooting method , disabled  supportFT 11 kv and roaming sensity level in the device manager but nothing changed... Do I need a specific , old driver to actually get this thing working? Im pretty sure its all about the adapter since my old cheap one worked perfectly fine (slow but fine) without pinging or disconnecting . Im seriously getting tired wasting almost a day looking to fix this stuff. I can see that its a common problem with this adapter , why it is never fixed ? Can I get some help ?

  @fatatesz

Hi, welcome to the community.

It is suggested to manually install the following driver to see whether it helped:

https://static.tp-link.com/upload/beta/2022/202206/20220601/Realtek_WLAN_1030.44.0531.2021_Win20H1_RS1_Archive3_DUA_0530_U2U3.zip

Moreover, Are you able to test the adapter on another computer?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi,

Do you mean whenever you get those 8 seconds long ping spikes the TX20U is actually disconnecting from the PC and then reconnecting to the PC (i.e. Windows plays the device-disconnect sound and then again the device-plugged-in sound) ?

  @woozle Yes, its rarely happening on 2.4ghz but on 5ghz very common. Im hearing the windows disconnect sound and reconnects it after some seconds.

 I set the usb ports to never disconnect it to save power, its still persist.

Im using it on 2.4 now , but Im still getting packet loss and lag spikes every 10 sec ( up to 8000ms where the internet stops working for some secs and refreshes) and its very annoying.

Downloaded 3 different drivers , updated releatek wifi drivers... nothing working . I sent email directly to tp link costume service where they suggested to rma the device.

Perhaps there is a small chance your Archer TX20U Plus is indeed defective, but especially if your computer is based on AMD hardware, then replacing it with an identical new one might not help.

Have you tested whether the Archer TX20U Plus works better when plugged into an USB 2.0 port of your computer?

Usually these disconnect problems only happen when run in USB 3.x mode in combination with certain AMD USB controllers.

  @woozle Yes , I already swapped to every usb port and it keeps doing it. My pc is indeed AMD based btw. It disconnects especially when I try to switch to 5ghz frequency or just trying to swap frequency.

Ok, but are you sure there was an USB 2.0 port amongst them? On most modern motherboads I've seen the USB 2.0 ports are located next to the PS/2 keyboard/mouse port.

If the TX20U Plus doesn't even work properly on an USB 2.0 port, then it might actually be faulty.

  @woozle

I have a cooler master h500 case where are 4 usb ports on the front panel , 2x 3.0 and 2x 2.0. Tried every one of them.

  @fatatesz I have the same problem. My PC is Intel based, tried all the drivers, and both USB 3 and 2. Nothing works. It literally stops working in a few seconds or after 10 - 20 minutes and I have to manually replug the usb cable in order to restart the wifi connection. It is extremely frustrating, especially when you have a meeting online. Please let me know how to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
