Model: Archer BE230   Archer AX23
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20241211

Here's my setup:

-BE230 as main router then AX23 as satellite on EasyMesh config.

-Both are connected on ethernet backhaul

-My ISP plan is 1gbps

-I have a separate wifi name for 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks

-When my phone (Samsung S20FE 5G) connects to the 5ghz network, I get almost 900mbps with my phone next to the main or satellite router. I use Speedtest.net web as well as the app

-When I switch my phone to the 2.4ghz network, I am only getting 60mbps also just next to either router

I tried a laptop, tablet, iPhone 14 Pro and its the same to all devices. Excellent speed on the 5ghz network but terrible speed on 2.4ghz

My main concern on the 2.4ghz is my smart devices/ google devices that use that band. The response is very sluggish and it was not the case on my old mesh setup.

My previous mesh setup is the Deco M4 and that at least gives me 170mbps on 2.4ghz on my old ISP plan 300mbps. I was not getting close to 1gbps when I renewed my plan which is why I upgraded my setup to the BE230/AX23 mesh

Hi@JuzSayin,

Please tell me what is the link speed of 2.4G now? How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:Cable modem—BE230—AX23 )))((( client devices

Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection

Please try the following suggestions:
1. Turn off QoS: How to turn off the QoS feature on TP-Link Router
2. Change channel, channel width for 2.4G band:Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo)   (Prefer non-overlapping channels such as 1, 6, 11)
3. Stay away from interference sources, such as other Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc.
4. Turn off some 2.4G devices for comparison.

my responses are italicized

Please tell me what is the link speed of 2.4G now? - it shows 286mbps when i place my phone literally on top of the router, and it goes down as i move away

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:Cable modem—BE230—AX23—wireless connection to S20FE 5G

Please try the following suggestions:

1. Turn off QoS: How to turn off the QoS feature on TP-Link Router - done, no change on speedtest

2. Change channel, channel width for 2.4G band:Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo) (Prefer non-overlapping channels such as 1, 6, 11) - done, no change

3. Stay away from interference sources, such as other Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc. - my phone is literally on top of the router when i do my speedtest

4. Turn off some 2.4G devices for comparison. - changed wifi name so my phone is the only one connected to 2.4G, also unplugged all my LAN connected devices so i can isolate my network, still the same slow speed on 2.4ghz

the best speedtest that i get is 134mbps when my phone is literally on top of the router

Hi @JuzSayin,

Please make sure you are tagging a TP-Link Admin (my account) if you want a timely response. Unless we are tagged we do not see that new responses have been added. We do not subscribe to every thread, so rely on Tagging to ensure responses.

Did you try to change channel width to 40Mhz for 2.4GHz?

Please also compare with the speed of 2.4G guest network. How to create a network for guests on the Wi-Fi Routers

When you put the device in normal use range, what is the link speed of 2.4Ghz?
Note: The actual download speed on 2.4ghz should be 30%-50% of the link speed
