Hi everyone,

I have a wire connection to the Internet. I am trying to set it such that it can connect to my TL-WR740N and use the wireless to access this wire network. The TL-WR740N acts as an Access Point.

This is what I have done:
- disable DHCP
- set an IP on the TL-WR740N such that it is the same as the wire network
- connect the wire cable to the TL-WR740N (one of the sockets and not the WAN)
- disable wifi security
- on my laptop's wifi setting set as the setting i would use for the wire network.

The problem is that i cannot access the Internet via wifi.

If i use a cable and plug my computer to the TL-WR740N, i can access the wire network and access the Internet.

It seems I am not setting something in the router such that it can send the data from the wire network to wifi.

Can someone offer me some advice?

Thanks!
Cliff

Cliff, did you change Wi-Fi name of WR740N? Can you detect it and connect to it successfully? Any IP address obtained wirelessly? What's the IP address obtained by wire?
Did you try to use it as wireless router to test if you can access internet wirelessly?
