Region : Australia

Model : TD-W8968

Hardware Version : V4

Firmware Version :

ISP :

Currently running the Archer D 5 with newest Firmware.

Network Settings> D.S.L Setting> Enable S.RA ticked.

S.R.A = Seamless Rate Adaptation

So if there is an increase on the noise on the line. The Current Sync Rate should lower to accommodate for the

extra noise, and keep the S.N.R at around 6 DB for a stable connection by default, without you actually having

to drop the connection and retain the line. But this function doesn't actually work, across the whole range of

Modem Routers with S.RA.

Line Status Below are when there is a lot of noise on the line. You can see that my Current Rate is actually

higher than Max Rate resulting in a S NR of 4.8 ( starting to get some packet errors)

Current Rate (Kbps) 1017 9378
Max Rate (Kbps) 1073 9136
S NR Margin (dB) 6.2 4.8
Line Attenuation (dB) 28 45
Errors 0 0

About 3 hours later when there was less noise on the line. Line Status below: as you can see my Current Rate

never changes or "adapts" like it is suppose to with S RA. Current Speed is now lower than Max Speed with 5.8

DB

Current Rate (Kbps) 1017 9378
Max Rate (Kbps) 1076 9548
S NR Margin (dB) 6.2 5.8
Line Attenuation (dB) 28 45
Errors 0 0

If SNR Margin is lower than 10dB or Line Attenuation higher than 45dB, your line quality is poor and may suffer from Internet dropping. In this condition, you should contact your ISP to check your line quality.

we talking bout Australian Copper Quality. SRN margin is standard 6BD here =)

But my point is that SRA feature not working. Even if what you're saying with 10DB which is achievable by being on a stability profile.

SRA feature still doesn't work on Modem Router range which have this feature.

Switching Line Profile to Stability will achieve around 12DB but sync speed will drop to around 7000ish. But doesn't fix the underlying problem of when their is increase in line noise SRA not actually adapting the Current Sync Rate to compensate for the Extra Noise on the line.

Hypothetical, with stability profile SNR margin is at 12DB but due to whatever reason their is increase in line noise and your SNR margin drops from 12DB down to lets say 5DB (highly unlikely but for arguement sake). SRA should lower your current Sync Rate to compensate for this extra noise to keep higher SNR margin at a particular "default" range for a more stable connection. But in reality it doesn't do this, it doesn't do anything at all actually.
