RE550 Wi-Fi Extender Setup

I just purchased an RE550 and I want to use it as a wifi extender and an access point at the same time. I have wireless cameras set up which route to My router so that I can record the video on My NVR recorder which isn't wireless.
I currently use a BrosTrend extender which I plug My router into via a network cable which gives me 2 way access to the internet via a community shared router (which I connect to wirelessly). This allows me to access my camerass remotely.
I am trying to configure the TP-Link RE550 extender to do the same thing as my current BrosTrend extender. is there a way to set it up to be do this?

Hi@HuGals,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Is your network topology like this:
campground network )))(((RE550--router)))(((cameras
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
Do you control the cameras remotely via the camera App? If so, please refresh the Camera app on your iPhone. It is possible that the camera App on the iPhone has not been synchronized promptly.

Hi@HuGals,
Thank you for getting back to me.
This is indeed strange. I also suggest you consult camera support to confirm whether it is an App display problem?
Or, is there any setting that needs to be modified on the network device? For example, change the router's DNS to Google DNS.

Hi @HuGals,
Welcome to our community.
May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:
ISP modem—Router—Extender )))((( client devices
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
You can check which operation mode the BrosTrend selected? As for RE550, it has two operation modes: Range Extender or Access Point.
It can only work in one of the modes. In your case, RE550 should be used as an Access Point. Please refer to How to configure Range Extender as an Access Point via Tether App
Please set RE550 as Access Point and test whether it can replace the original extender role.
Best Regards.

I thought I had replied to this already but obviously my reply isn't here so it went into the black hole somewhere.
I'm in a campground and I connect a wifi extender to the campground network so that I can plug My router into it via a network cable which gives My router internet access.
My router has 4 wireless cameras hooked up to it wirelessly and an NVR recorder hooked up to it via a network cable. All my cameras need to hook up to My router to get a static IP address. The static IP address is needed so the NVR can find the cameras.
Here's the problem....I'm having a problem connecting to my equipmeny remotely to access the cameras. My BrosTrend had worked fine but started to become glitchy so this TP Link extender will replace the BrosTrend extender (I hope).
I tinkered with the RE550 settings and I can now view the cameras with my iPad but for some reason my iPhone won't connect remotely. Both devices used to hook remotely, with the new extender only 1 will connect. Any ideas?

yes that is my network setup. First off the viewing application is different on each the iPad and my iPhone. They are similar but slightly different. With my BrosTrend extender both iPhone and iPad worked with this extender, now only the iPad works.
I uninstalled, then reinstalled the application on my iPhone. To install my cameras and NVR on my iPhone i need to be connected to my router. as from the extender the camera application can't find/see the cameras., After all that, I can only view my cameras live if I'm am connected to my router.
it's weird that my iPad works and my iPhone doesn't.
