Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have bought a new Archer C6 yesterday to replace the old one damaged because of the lighting.

It was set up by a technician but he didn't left the admin password.

I performed reset and set up of a new password. It worked. That was yesterday.

Today the router says that the password I have set yesterday is incorrect.

I performed reset multiple times and each time when I try to set up new password after I confirm it says "The old password is incorrect" and freezes on the initial password setup screen.

What can I do ?

Hello@PrinzFox ,

Thank you for getting back to me.

  • Please completely power off the router and restart it;
  • Please check the login address and try to log in using the router's domain name or IP address: Launch/open a web browser and enter http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  • Please change the browser for comparison;
  • Please clear the cache:use the shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + Del (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac) to clear the cache, or try to log in to the router's management interface in Incognito mode.

Hello @PrinzFox ,

Welcome to our community.

Are there any other individuals who also have permission to access the router's management page?

Please confirm that you reset the router correctly: Press and hold the reset button/hole for more than 5 seconds to reset the router to its factory default settings.

No. There are no other persons with access to the router. It's my home router and it was configured to allow admin page acces only by LAN.

I'm pretty sure I reset the router correctly. I managed to do this once succesfully, but the next day router said the password I have set the day before is incorrect. I repeated the reset multiple times and every time with the same effect. It shows the page where I have to type and then confirm the new password, but when I click the confirm button a message box is shown with "The old password is not correct". When I close this message box it just stays on that new password page with a spinner runnig in the place of confirm button and doesn't go any further.
