Deco X20 wireless issues after firmware update
Hello,
I've had the Deco X20 Whole Home Wifi System - Triplet Pack since 2020. It's pretty much worked perfectly the whole time, but I performed the firmware upgrade to 1.6.1 Build 20250910 Rel. 43292 from the app about a week ago and ever since various wireless devices have been disconnecting to finding it difficult to connect to the internet.
The App on my phone is occasionally showing one or two of the X20 Decos as offline but then after a while they come back again.
I haven't changed any settings or moved the deco's positions, everything is the same apart from the firmware update. I understand I cannot downgrade the firmware back to the previous version. What can I try to do to resolve this?
I have the main Deco setup in the Wi-Fi Router Mode.
This problem is affecting, laptops, TV's, Sky Streaming boxes - all disconnecting or failing to load content on a regular basis.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the community.
Could you please refer to this link to help me submit the Deco App log:
May I know your internet service provider?
If you go to Deco APP>Network Security, would there be any abnormal attack records?
(If there is, can you leave a screenshot here?)
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I've sent the logs as requested.
My internet provider is Community Fibre.
And I've checked the Network Security records, and I dont see anything unusual, just some blocked sites from some devices in the house,. They are being classified as Malware. Example screenshot attached.
Let me know if you need any further details.
Thanks

Hi, thank you very much for the App logs.
Here are some suggestions for your reference:
- Set the IPV4 DNS to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4.
- Temporarily disable "Malicious Content Filter" and "Intrusion Prevention System".
Please let me know whether these suggestions help.
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Funnily enough I have always used the Google DNS servers before I did the firmware update. I kept on using the Google DNS servers for several days whilst the issues were happening and then I changed them to the Cloudflare DNS servers to see if that made any difference.
But I'll leave it on the Google servers and I've turned off the malware and intrusion detection systems.
I'll keep an eye and see how it works out.

Hi, is it also 1.6.1 Build 20250910?
Your reported issue is more hardware-related. Have you tried to factory reset Deco once to see if the issue continues?
If yes, I think you might need to contact local technical support to check for warranty service:https://www.tp-link.com/support/replacement-warranty/
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Yes

What makes you say that?
My issue is exact what OP described, except I only have 1 X20... but otherwise it's the same phenomenon.
After a few years of working relatively well, I updated the firmware and within a couple hours it starts randomly failing to work normally.
Everything disconnects, and the SSID is not visible in the WiFi settings of any of my devices.

Hi, thank you very much for the update.
The main difference would be that the original post highlighted the mobile devices connected to the WiFi, but they can't load any websites. It is more likely that Deco accidentally blocked these websites. However, when I view posts, it is more like the wireless signal has randomly stopped broadcasting, as the SSID is invisible under WLAN. So I tend to think the wireless module on the hardware might be broken.
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.
