Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20250804 rel.79639(4555)

Hello TP-Link Support Team,

I’ve encountered an issue with the Archer BE230 router related to IGMP and IPTV configuration.

When setting up IPTV on the router, the interface allows me to select either Internet or IPTV mode for a LAN port — but not both simultaneously.
Because of this, my IPTV set-top box can receive the TV multicast stream, but it loses Internet access (no connectivity for apps like YouTube or updates).

It seems that the BE230 firmware does not currently support the “Internet + IPTV” mode that exists on older Archer models (for example, Archer C6 or AX20).
I also noticed that IGMP Proxy and Snooping don’t seem to work properly when IPTV mode is active — the multicast stream passes, but unicast traffic is blocked.

Could you please confirm:

  1. Is this a known firmware limitation on the BE230?

  2. Are there any upcoming updates to allow Internet + IPTV operation on the same LAN port?

  3. Is there a workaround or advanced configuration (e.g., VLAN or manual IGMP settings) that would enable both IPTV and Internet simultaneously?

Thank you for your assistance — this feature is important for IPTV users who also need Internet access on their set-top boxes.

Best regards,
Dmitry

The preset settings set the possibility of this mode. Why can't you select it manually?

It's sad, but I guess I'll have to go back to D-link. They have it implemented much better.

Hello @DimmR ,

Welcome to our community.

On your IPTV settings page, you selected IPTV VLAN 7. Could you let me know if you got IPTV settings info from your ISP?  Who is your ISP?

Can you change it to Custom? If you didn't get info from ISP, please refer to the FAQ to set the IPTV again: How to configure IPTV function on wireless router (For new logo)?

Hello @DimmR ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Here are some suggested steps:

  • Select mode as Custom, then you need to type in the VLAN ID for different services, the VLAN ID should be provided by your ISP. For example, if my ISP has told me that they use VLAN 40 for Internet service, VLAN 45 for VOIP service and VLAN 50 for IPTV service, I type in the parameters as above.
  • The 802.1Q Tag and IPTV Multicast VLAN ID are up to your ISP, too. (Normally the 802.1Q Tag should be checked). And the priority need not to configure.
  • Then set LAN ports for different services. For example, here I select LAN1 and LAN4 for Internet service, LAN2 for VOIP service and LAN3 for IPTV service. Please remember to click “Save”.
  • Finally, connect computers to LAN 1 and LAN4 for internet access, connect IP Phone to LAN2 for VOIP service, and connect STB to LAN3 to watch IPTV.

@Joseph-TP IPTV multicast requires the input of a VLAN that does not match the VLAN of the IPTV

  @DimmR ,

If your ISP doesn't provide these values, you can try a number between 2 and 4094.

@Joseph-TP I've tried different values. IGMP doesn't work anyway. Manual LAN Internet/IPTV port assignment only
